....going to a Wedding in Lincolnshire and the wife has made the Wedding Cake, which is a 4 tier stacked cake.

And guess who's driving - not looking forward to a 4 hour drive with that in the boot.
I said to her if you think I'm going too fast, especially approaching roundabouts, just shout "CAKE", and I don't mind how many times you have to say it!

Wish me luck guys 'n gals! {worried face here}!!

I once drove from Edinburgh to Dunoon (via the ferry) for a wedding and, like you, was transporting the wedding cake and proceeding very carefully. Got it there in one piece and handed it over to the bride who promptly put her hand through the box and flattened one side of the cake....

Good Luck!

Hate that place. Maybe because I got a sore face for chatting to a young lady and some locals took offence to the weegie! I was more offended at that as I'm a buddie!

I had to drive a car from Dundee to Glasgow one late Friday night without a battery in the car...........
all was fine until it got darker and I turned on the lights...Doh!
Train home then back up the next day with a mate in his car and leads

good luck golfmmad, can I suggest putting an inflatable (lilo or similar) in beside it then inflating to stop any movement...

Whereabouts in Lincolnshire, just out of interest?

And if it makes you feel any better, I've not played since the end of May bank holiday :(

I had a mother in law who took 5 hours to drive to Leicester from the Wirral via A roads (normally 2 hours via motorway) to deliver a special pane of glass to her daughter.

5 minutes away from the village a sheep jumped out in front of the car, brakes slammed on, the pane is now a jigsaw.

Many tears ensued.

No golf for me, on the bus at 10am to Hampden will try to get out tomorrow depending in my condition. ;-)

i wont be able to play for a few months now (or so the consultant said, but what do they know????) something about letting whatever they put in my heart on monday bed in and settle down,he looked like a rugby union kind of guy so does he know the damage that long a lay off will do to my game!!!!!

Cheers DarthVega, good idea with inflatable. What we did to secure the cake was, firstly, as cake was heavy and to aviod damage to edges when lifting, we put cake in it's box on a board with non slip mat underneath, plus another non slip mat in boot and put board with cake box on top of that.

We stayed in a hotel in Lincoln facing the wharf - Braypool. The reception was at a place called The White Heather near Melton Mowbray.

Lincoln itself is a beautiful City and this morning decided to have a look round. We walked up the very steep street to the Cathedral which has some fine architecture. They had a market in the square next to Cathedral - with a difference - it was a "Victorian Punk" festival, with people dressing up in "Gothic" like costumes. And not just young people either. Apparently it's a craze that has come from America, and I can tell you, one that I'll not be following!

Hope you get a game in soon Aztec, you know it makes sense!

Well, you can't have your cake and eat it, can you!

Sorry.

Yeah ok Dave, nice one, only you could of come out with that one!

Thanks FairwayDodger. Our Bride wasn't as clumsy as that.

Well, cake delivered and all in one piece - what a relief! It was a case of actually doing the deed being easier than thinking and worrying about it.

Had a great weekend, weather fantastic, venue superb and the Bride looked stunning.

PS
Oops, seem to have got posts wrong way round, FairwayDodger's should have been first. Don't know what I did there!
