Currently in the midst of packing up the house as we're moving over the weekend...

While moving a large, heavy box from one room to another, the cat got under my feet and in my feeble attempts to keep balance, I managed to jam my right thumb between the box and the frame of the door! My thumbnail popped clean out of the nailbed, blood everywhere...

Now all bandaged up, but I can't put much pressure on the thumb at all until the new nail begins to grow in. Might also have hairlined the knuckle, but the nurse doesn't think I have.

Throbbing like mad just now, and sore whatever I do.. and I've managed to bang it a fair few times since coming back from the nurse too, just for good measure. Can't even hold a pint glass properly, and holding in my left hand I'd be wearing as much I drink...

Its likely to keep me out for a few weeks.. but at least with the weather as it is, I won't miss too much time.

Sorry to hear that! Like you say at least with a bit of luck you won't be missing much due to the weather.

Regarding the cat, perhaps get them neutered as a way of getting them back? Or no food for a week.
