Nightmare 1st tee!

So, 1st medal of the season and first tee. Crowd of 15 people, step up confident and proceed to scuff my drive 6 yards to the end of the tee box, Had to laugh! Picked up the 3 wood and under intense scrutiny smashed it 240 down the middle, thank god, I was bricking it!

It happens. I managed to get a good(ish) one away in the stableford in front of a large crowd but there is always that "Oh God please let me hit it well" moment between teeing it up and making contact

Had the same thing yesterday at Theydon Bois in front of our society...first group off the tee in front of around 30...nailed my drive with a slight fade to within 5 yards of the green. Very happy but then duffed my chip!!!

Maybe I need an audience!

I topped a 6 iron off of our first last Thursday in front of 15 people. A guy in the group behind me hit his drive into the ball washer and ended up on the 18th green

Playing with Leftie last year at his place, stood on the first tee waiting for the off. A crowd of players had gathered behind, and my three playing partners all striped drives straight down the middle.
I stepped up, felt confident, couple of practice swings....felt good.
Proceeded to top it off the tee into the semi rough about 30 yards forward. Felt a right prat, and could hear the mutters/sniggers from behind.
Pulled out my 5 wood, hit a superb recovery out of the rough, wedged on and canned a 30 footer for par.
Mate of mine who had mullered a drive down the middle hit the green and then three jerked for a bogey.
