Nick Faldo will be back!

He WAS a great player but aside from this he's an idiot who brought absolutley NOTHING to the last Ryder Cup Team.

He did fine at the RC, he stood by his decision to take Poulter which turned out to be a good decision. The media tried to make him out as an idiot with the 'sandwich list' nonsense - big deal. You have wildcard places so the captain can take who he wants and who he gets on with, if you want in the team so badly make the top ten and don't rely on wildcards!
As a RC captain you have a 50/50 chance of winning, probably less than that when you are away from home.
Do you really think Europe should be winning every time? Great contest that would be.
The fact Faldo's team lost makes the next RC at home better.
They made a decent go of it, well into the singles the contest was still anyones and if the Yanks hadn't holed a few bombs as they call them on the greens it could've gone either way (which is what makes exciting RC golf).
Faldo does things in his own way but was a fine champion and is a damn good analyst on CBS.
I would happily have him as captain again over Monty any day.

Faldo is a legend. I have more admiration for him than many other players of yesterday. I don't like him much however.

He'll play OK but probably not make the cut......

As world no 1 for nigh on ten years ?

For winning 6 majors ?

Or for cocking up one week as captain of the RC ?

Even when he drifted down the world rankings, he still had one of the best swings in the world, it was just his putting that let him down, and it wouldn't surprise me if the same thing happens nowadays - He'll hit the fairways, and his GIR will be fine, but I bet he misses far to many putts, and probably the cut.

In the last 15 years we haven't seen a British player come on the scene that is fit to lace his boots.

Even the new Pros into one-plane this and stack and tilt that still admire his swing as the "ultimate" of that period. I personally follow his basics as "my bible".....and try to emulate the theories about plane etc.

He was an incredible player, lacking only in "spark" with the putter. He recorded many rounds (like Poulter) with out of this world GIR stats and almost bogey free. Overly-clinical long game (maybe?) and not charismatic like others, but oh so good......

Well i think we've finally put this one to bed!

It seems the biggest sticking point was his captaincy of the Ryder Cup, it will be interesting to see what sort of job Colin 'you're only here because of me, and don't forget it' Montgomerie makes of it?
