Hi all just joined, and have a short story and some help and advice needed if you don't mind.

Ok just started playing golf use to plays years ago but was no good the either very seldom got under a 100 lol!!. I have done my thrird round and my scores were 121, 103, 96 oso getting lower I also go down the range twice a week for practice and also lob and chip pracice in the back garden.
I have a set of maxfli revolutions which I undersatand are for a low handycapper and not realy suited for a novice like my self, I like the clubs and can feel when the ball come of sweet, at the moment I am working on my grip as I was not holding the club in my fingers but accross the palm of my hand, If I take my 7 iron to the range I can hit the ball over 200yds which mean I swing far to agressive and when a shot goes wayward it does it big time.
Bit about me
48 live in Kingswod Bristol Left Handed but use r/h clubs and have been playing woodlands course on a Tuesday for the last 3 weeks.
What I would like to find out from the wealth on information that should be here is, how much will it (or could it ) affect my came if I do not replace the low h/c clubs with a set more suited for a biginer,I am aware that a new bigger cavity back iron if going to be more forgiving but would realy like to try and work with the clubs I have.

You imput would be great help for me

Thanks
Ian

Welcome to the forum i'm sure you will find lots of good advice on here.

Are you sure you are hitting a 7i over two hundred yard's?
that is a long way!!!!

Anyway before you think about changing your clubs my advice would be to go and book some lessons a pro will be able to tell you much better than anyone on here(no disrespect to anyone) whether or not your clubs suit you or is it a swing fault thats coursing you wayward shots.

Welcome Ian.

I'm left handed and use r/h clubs.....

i.i.r.c. the revolution were a quality club for the better player. BUT, they weren't too unforgiving for medium players (they're not pro blades!) and if you like them, stick with them. I used one of the first sets of cavity backed aimed at single figure players (some pro's used them too)....they got me from 24-8..... you'll be OK.

Welcome and some interesting questions! In my opinion a couple of lessons are a must to make sure you have changed your grip correctly and that the other basics (stance posture and alignment are all ok). The pro will be able to make sure you are swinging on the correct path and plain (not John Daly style which sounds like what you are doing at the moment).

After that it is really up to you. If the lessons work and you practice what you have been taught your clubs will be functional as they do have a degree of forgiveness. However if you want to really optimize your game, I suggest trying something a little more up to date like Callaway X20 (or the X18's if you can find them), R7's, G10's etc. There are a multitude of cavity backed clubs out there to try. If do go to American Golf or similar try and find one with a range so you can actually see how the balls fly rather than rely on a computer in a shop bay.

Keep posting on here and let us know how you get on
