Hi all.
I'm a newbie on here so be gentle with me.

I've had a discussion with the pro at my local club and he doesn't have an answer for this so over to you lot....

I'm a lefty at golf, and always have been, but I'm predominately right handed for everything else and have been trying to get my head around a dilema. If you are a right handed person, your right hand is your "strong" hand. As a left hander, my right/top hand does most of the work . I can hit balls one handed pretty well with my strong, right hand but not with my left. My dad, right handed golfer/person, couldn't hit a thing with his left hand as a one handed shot. Based on that, shouldn't every right handed person play golf left handed?...... Or should I ease up on the medication?

Steve

Hi steve , Welcome I'm the opposite from you as I'm left handed / footed but play golf right handed . I have tried to swing a club left handed but it doesn't feel right ?? So I just stick with it

In theory you are correct, some of us certainly play as if we are the wrong way round :o

Based on that, I would say you guys should work on your left handed strength - cue dodgy jokes.
Really your arms should be symetrical in terms of strength, in the real world this is hard to achieve, because we are biased to one side.

Do you know which one of your eyes is dominant? This can also affect which side you choose to play.

Quite a few ex cricketers play left handed when they are actually right handed.

Ah, I used to play a lot of cricket but batted left handed, bowled right arm over. I think I may just be a bit odd :D

Well you in the right place... Welcome!

Close your eyes and hit the ball. Works for me

Welcome to the Forum Steve

I'm 100% with you on this one.

As would be Big Phil, Mike Weir, Chris Gane, many top cricketers, and many right handed "lefties".

I would say just do what feels right or what gives you the best results

YOU FREAK

:D :D :D :D

Only Joking, welcome to the forum

Expect banter, its not to be taken seriously

I am a leftie but play right, wish I was a left handed golfer as clubs can be picked up for a bargain :)
