Mate of mine picked up the game towards the end of the summer. First few rounds were pretty painful to watch at in and around +45 but with the odd flash of brilliance.

Last few weeks hes improved quite a bit and is scoring in around +30 with the odd par thrown in for good measure.
He got a new driver (second hand cobra s2) during the week and had his first round with it yesterday and all of a sudden hes hitting the ball 300yds and straight!! he was always a big hitter but not this big.

Highlight was when he drove a (shortened) 280yd par 4 to about 8 feet and sunk the eagle putt.
Never seen someone so happy in my life. Think thats him hooked on golf for life.
Finished +26 yesterday for his first sub 100 round too

Its moments like the one mentioned above which make it all worthwhile!

I played in my first society day in October at the Weald of Kent, and managed my first (and only) Eagle on the way to victory with 44 points. Drove to the edge of the green and chipped it in.

You've never seen a grin like it!

Wimbledon Common had four par 4's that were all reachable in summer and I made more than a few eagles and sometimes you'd walk off gutted with birdie. Fickle or what. Nothing better than hitting a par 4 in one or a par 5 in two and making the putt. Cue muchos fist pumping

I was chuffed to bits with my first par, on a 560 yard par 5 a few weeks ago. Can't imagine how happy I'd be with an eagle.
