Tonight's the night people. What's your golfing resolution going to be?

A few of us (20-15 hcp)are bidding to playing off 10 by april 2011

I made a New Year Resolution 15 years ago to not make any more New Year Resolutions and I'm sticking to it. I am going to play more new courses though.....

To get physically fitter generally and lose some weight which will hopefully help my golf and allow me to hit longer shots. I'm picking up too many silly injuries these days partly due to age but partly due to being a bit out of shape too I think.

To play in all the Opens I can whilst ignoring all the minor comps at my own course.

To take the time to enjoy those new courses I play without getting hung-up on the score I'm shooting.

To play my own course more this year and try to get a bit of consistency instead of playing a different course every week.
It was enjoyable adding courses to my played list, but it affected my ability to drop my handicap.

I want to be realistic so with the help of lessons and more practice I want to go from 16 to 12 by the end of next season. According to our pro after he took me for a lesson earlier in the year this should be easily achievable,I may do better but I would settle for that.

Another one of mine is to reacquaint myself with the GM forum. I haven't posted nearly as much as I would liked recently and intend to get as involved as I was in my earlier days.

I'm setting out to enjoy my golf more this coming year. If I'm enjoying it, then the scores will come in good time.

All the best everyone :D

I just want to devote more time to the game. Whether it be through playing more than once or twice a month! Or through getting more involved on here again. I love the game and was a little disappointed with how detached I became from it in the last quarter of the year. Here's to more golf in 2010.

Im hoping to be off 12 this time next year......Have decided to retire from playing football only just today as many on here will know about my injury last summer...
So with that im really going to go at the golf for the season coming and put in some really hard graft...Fingers crossed...

Can I have a combination of Stevek1969 and Birdieman!

That would be my resolution and a longer period playing off of 4!

My resolution will be to keep up with my lessons and practice hard enough to come down from 18 to 14. Also to play each hole one at a time and not think of the overall score.

Also to play each hole one at a time and not think of the overall score.

Is that possible? I simply can't detach myself from my score to par, I always like to know exactly where I am which in turn can influence shot choices particularly later in the round be that right or wrong. It does bring pressure but the thought of walking off the 18th green having no idea what my score is, I just couldn't do it. :o

Can anyone, particularly low handicappers do this? Intrigued to know. :p

For me the idea off playing 1 shot/hole at a time is great but not entirely realistic for your average amateur i prefer to just be patient and not try too hard to make a score!

Also to play each hole one at a time and not think of the overall score.

Was actually meant to convey just play the shot and not thinking about swing mechanics. Although I do always have an idea what my score is. Especially after nine holes, my playing partners are always keen to tell me. :( :D
