Its Car Change time again.
Currently have a Citroen Picaso 2L Petrol which does 3 mpg, but is fine in all other respects

We are a 5 bum family Mr & Mrs plus 3 girls 16. 14 12 years,

Looking to buy new, but really want a deisel to get better fuel figures
Budget about £15000

Could just go for another Picaso, but that would be our third in a row and to be honest, I could do with a change

So Anyone out there got a decent size vehicle they can comment on, or any suggestions

Cheers

I wouldn;t buy new EVER again even if i won the lottery.
Just a rip off and you can wipe huge sums off the value just by driving it off the forecourt.

I'll second the Skoda shout!

Great cars. I have a wee Fabia VRS, and I will buy another Skoda, I'll probably go back to a bigger car next time. I will also put in a shout for Seat Altea. The wife stole my 2.0TDi Sport model off me. That was another great car to drive. I really liked it.

Pre tax hike X5?
They really are so comfortable, go like stink (3.0 petrol is gutless and heavy on fuel, diesel isnt much better so we went for the 4.6IS 347bhp!) and actually cost the same to tax as any other normal motor at 215 this year and 245 next.
The only downside is servicing if you do big miles, if not, its not so much of a problem. We do around 3-4k per year in it as school etc is quite local.
Insurance isnt bad at 600 quid, fuel, again depends how far you drive it, a tank lasts weeks for us and some have already had the lpg conversion. Tyres are not too bad if you stick to non nationals (kwik fit charge 1500 for a set of tyres for my model 20" run flats albeit, I picked up two brand new mid range tyres for the front for 206 all in with non run flats as I have a spare anyway.)

Failing that, a Zafira GSI.

I had an 08 Octavia VRS TDI 170, lovely motors, only pain was the 16v power delivery, it actually revved like a petrol with little torque below 2k, took a while to get used to and loved tyres, eating 8 tyres in 27k (6 fronts and rears shot at 27k with severe wear on inner 2 inches on each)
Fantastic amount of kit and spec for the money too. 18" alloys, projector HID lights, airconned storage boxes, maxidot display etc.
