So your saying had the lodge been in place when I 1st posted it would have been removed by the hareem and I would never have become a member of the forum, who has joined in,invited forummers to his course,put his hand up to take part in a forum match and generally added to the forum in some way.

Alchemygolf, If the moderators were in place and yours, or mine for that matter, first post came in with the hard sell then yes I would expect it to be removed. If that means you don’t have the opportunity to get involved in the forum then too bad. In saying that, if someone comes in with the hard sell then I’m sure they will get the benefit of the doubt before action is taken. It’s not seven bandits that have taken over the town. You give me the impression you think there is some hidden agenda that we don’t know about. Chill out.

All forums have admin/moderators, it is neccessary that in the public domain, that certain people have the tools to remove offensive posts and remove spam, where is the problem in that?

Very well said. Provided this is maintained I think nobody can have any reason to complain about this development to the ever growing forum. As long as everyone acts / is treated as equal than there really is no problem.

My point entirely. I think one of the mods made a point earlier in the week about someone who had posted potentially a one off type thing selling something as a 1st time post and saying they would give it 24 hours or so and see if they joined in elsewhere.
If you post a spam or junk mail flogging something and it is removed and you don't join in would you even know. The fact that other forum members pointed out the error of your ways and suggested you joined in on the main forum (and very welcome you have been) meant that you knew there was an issue. If you did the same thing now I'm pretty certain at least one of the mods may have the decency to perhaps PM you and poiunt out why the post isn't appropriate and give you an opportunity to get involved. If you chose not to take that offer up I would imagine the post would then be removed.

Mike and the guys at GM are the big dogs and the Mods are only here to act if there are offending posts that have been posted at a time where nobody from GM towers is online. I remember a year or so ago a guys first post was about a golf club pro who he accused of illegal bahaviour toward children, now this had to be removed as soon as possible and Mike was emailed and had to get to a computer to delete it but now if something happens like that a Mod can remove/ quarantine the thread/post but only Mike can actualy DELETE the offending item.
