New Irons

I can recommend the R7's as I had a set until recently. I have now got a set of TOur Burner which have a smaller head than the ordinary burner with a thinner topline but still ahve a fairly forgiving cavity back. Not as forgiving as my X20's but they are basically the replacement for the R7

I am not a fan of Taylormade irons although I hit the RAC's quite well.

I tried VIG's MP67's today, what a lovely club they are, nice and compact, thin top line, small sole and produced a very nice draw.

I would be very tempted to get a set of these if the had a nice shaft to suit!

Barry I have no idea about the x22 tour irons I only seen the normal 22's.

have you tried the taylormade r7s theyre very nice u can probably get them decent money now too

Unless you can find a store somewherethat's got a set in stock, you'll not get them - they stopped making them. So that would be goodbye to custom fit presumably.

Must say when I got mine 12 months ago it came down to the R7's and Ping G10's. Discounted the x20's as like you Tony did not like the ball flight.

Finally opted for the G10's as you know as the flight was nice and the ball just seemed to drop out of the sky and appeared to land softly which is the case.

As I've said try different clubs and go a couple of times before you settle on a set, if you want I'm sure I could get to Foregolf and help you out on Thursday

Not exactly sure what you mean by this mate? You mean stand in on the fitting session?

Tony, what did you end up with in the end ? I just got a DG catalog in the post and the new TM irons and Nike Victory Red irons look the business. Two brands that in the past I wouldn't have really looked at. I also like the look of the new Macgregor irons but can't seem to find them on sale anywhere ?

Am not booked in till thursday night, but the Nike Victory Red Irons where suggested to me by the pro, but after trying Vigs mizzys today, my budget may just increase :D

The 67s are a muscle back blade arnt they,if you cant hit them well you can play with anything, using a players club you will get a consistant ball flight most times

Tony, they're the MP57's

:D oops! silly me!

Baz, your more than welcome to come along to the fitting and give me some feedback, atleast I know yours would be neutral as you aint selling me anyclubs! :D

hope you didn't get caught in too much traffic.
you definately hit them with a nice draw.

How about asking for vouchers for Xmas, it's not that far away.

I wouldn't rush into it as prices are sure to fall as new kit comes out

Took me about 100 mins to get home, traffic was ok.

Yeah I really liked the shape they produced without even trying to draw the ball. Shame there are no markers on your range to see how far I could of hit them. The shaft seemed quite good in them too.

Too late now (see for sale section) I think I will end up with new irons before chrimbo but I will try drag some cash in pressies to make up for what I spend on them! <-- I wish that smiley worked!

Just having a look at GM's equipment reviews and at the Nike Victory Red Irons, sound quite good.

Wouldn't it be great if Paul or Mike had a few spare sets lying about in the office gathering dust I could try out :D

Excellent! Great spot Russ. I may pop to Foregolf Thursday then before the fitting at 19:00 Worth it just to try out what mizzies to concentrate on in the session!

MP57s are absolutely brilliant as long as they have a dgs300 shaft imo. i like the 67 too. nearly bought them if it wasnt for the brilliant deal i got on the 735cm titleists!

I not too keen on the dgs300s they always seemed to ballon into the wind had them in my last set, tried the x100s they were good just too heavy, project xs for me they are superb
