Putting tape on top of a driver is saying you are confident you are going to roof it. Not good psychology. Like getting an old ball out for drives over water.

And car seat covers. Is this wrong?

I have zipped headcovers on my Fusion Wide Soles AND black plastic insulating tape on the bottom 2/5 of the graphite shafts. My Driver and woods have black insulating tape on the top edge of the heads as well to protect against the occasional sky.

If they are Pinnacles of course. Pro V1 balls are a different thing though.

I think forged clubs are prone to clatter marks more than cast clubs, so if you have a set of Mizzy's (without headcovers ) they are likely to get knocked about from normal wear and tear in the bag.

Something like Pings, in my opinion, do not look as bad so quickly, and some would say don't look as good to start with.
