....but only if you have SKY
The BBC will only be showing live coverage of one out of the first four races.
How long will it be before all live popular sports are on Sky only ?

I've got Sky and the new F1 channel but I can take it or leave it to be honest, after the first corner F1 is deadly dull.

MotoGP on the other hand is fantastic!

Needs though, a few more riders to find some decent form and provide a proper challenge to Stoner...

Absolutely. Afraid I have to disagree about MotoGP being fantastic. It used to be and I've been a fan for a long time, but the past couple of years have been more procession like for the front of the pack. I love F1 now, Canada last year was one of the most exciting sporting events I've known, despite the multiple restarts and delays.

The beeb desperately needs a dedicated sports channel and not just the flippin' red button...

Sky have got their beady eye on Wimbledon at present... Another nail in the coffin for terrestial TV coverage of all thats good in sport...

The beeb had an imperious line up of sports commentators and can, given a chance, do sport well again...

That's a fair point. We really need Ducati to put a competitive bike under Rossi but testing results don't look good. Also not helped by Suzuki struggling and now pulling out.

Hopefully Pedrosa and Lorenzo will sustain a challenge this year.

F1 shite how can 200 mph adverts be classed as a sport?only when it is the individual who has total control ans endeavour can it be classed a sport ie golf, cycling athletics etc etc

The run up to this weekend has been quite impressive on Sky. Hoping that they do deliver for the first race.

As to the rights and wrongs of the BBC and their antipathy towards mainstream sport, they'll never get back any of the events they've lost. Started with Test Match Cricket many years back and has been a mass exodus since.

Rumour has it the BBC don't even want to be the host broadcaster at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

So, what are they spending our license fees on ?
Reality Tv
Endless streams of 'exclusive' American rubbish
Programmes about fat people
Chief executives bonuses.

The problem is when SKY get all the sport, then they'll charge us extra to see special events as they've done in the past with boxing.:rant:

Well, they're doing a good job of the six nations and they still provide a five star coverage of Wimbledon...

Heard this also... Perhaps Glasgow isn't glamorous enough for their 'guest' commentators... Or perhaps they wouldn't be able to blag enough travel expenses as Glasgow is more or less on the doorstep to where they operate from [Manchester]...

hang on,sky sports is the dogs, wall to wall coverage of golf weekly not to mention the football and what it has done for the prem. and the millions pumped into the sport,it has better commentators than the beeb and look at the amount of programmes on offer.I look at the licence fee as a tax that gives me poor value for money, game shows or cooking prongs or bloody celebrity something or other, cheap tat to make programs and old american series no if i had the choice i would ditch bbc and it's not pay the tax and just had my sky hd bliss.

Exactly. The pit walk with Brundle is the best thing about F1.

MotoGP is the dogs danglies.

R6 Cup was also great. Skittles at times lol

YOur TV licence costs £145
Sky costs +/- £50 per month

Sky can afford to buy all the sport and make a good show of it because, not only do they get your 600 quid a year, they also get millions from advertising revenue.
The Beeb has to survive on 145 quid a year from everyone and no advertising.

Sky's revenue is 6.5 billion
BBC's revenue is 3.7 billion.

Not hard to see why Sky gets the good stuff - they can pay the money for it.
