I’m moving to Broughton Astley and am interested to join a club in the area. I have played Cosby a couple of times and noticed a lot of green staff going about there business. Enjoyed both rounds and the staff were very welcoming.
Any other clubs I should take a look at before committing?

Got family in Leicestershire and visit them occasionally, having the occasional game. That area is not blessed with golf courses, but within a shortish drive are Hinckley and Kirby Muxloe. Both nice tracks with good facilities.

Kirby Muxloe is full with a waiting list. In fact they are not accepting applications to join the list.

Whetstone, cheap and cheerful, not the best draining and some holes are very adjacent, great food in the clubhouse
Ullesthorpe, friendly club but like most Leicestershire courses not the best draining, they've been promising a driving range for years but it's still not ready.
Lutterworth, I've heard it's quite cliquey and hard to integrate as a new member, not the best draining.
Nuneaton, okay but never inspired me, not the best draining.
Hinckley, I like this one as a course, don't know about membership, not the best draining.
Kilworth Springs, nice course, I'm a member if you fancy a trial round, the best draining in Leicestershire but as such it is always busy, especially in Winter.
Bramcote Water, 9 hole, short, not the best draining.
Kibworth, a bit of a drive, friendly, not the best draining.

As Cosby will be so close it will be hard to find somewhere else to tempt you away. Cosby has everything you need.

I find Hinckley to be a slightly more interesting course than Cosby, but Cosby has a driving range.

Cosby has a huge number of low handicap players - they are obviously happy to be there.

That’s a good summary by Crow above. I am a member of Kibworth which is a 20 odd minute drive away. It’s in great condition in the Summer, but like most other local courses (with the exception of Kilworth) doesn’t drain well in the Winter. Let me know if you want a game at Kibworth, perhaps Crow and Voyager could join us for a four ball (or doublebogey7 as we’re yet to meet). I certainly wouldn’t put you off trying Cosby, which would be your nearest course, but personally I wouldn’t be keen on the next nearest (Whetstone).
