New club joined!

Interesting thread this. My wife has been muttering about us maybe moving to Edinburgh in a few years time and so to amuse myself I began to wonder about golf clubs - but where to start! Assuming a city or outskirts location - hmmm - Duddingston does look pretty darned good. Must also take a gander at Mortonhall.

There are a number of good courses in and around Edinburgh. 30 minutes drive takes you to some fantastic links courses and there are maybe 5 very good parkland in Edinburgh. My main struggle was getting a long course in a city where land is a premium and most courses are squashed in.

When you are up you have an invite to Duddingston. Just drop me a note.

Congratulations for joining a great course. I am a member at Mortonhall. Seems there are a few people in Edinburgh, perhaps we should organise a game!

Played in the Silloth at Mortonhall. Lovely course and was considered also. Some challenges in there certainly. 16th is troublesome!

Good man - would hope to be able to take you up on that one day 6500yds is decent length.

We do. Probably more than just one as I know quite a few of the boys down at your club. Small world indeed!

Enjoyed my golf at Duddingston yesterday.

Highlights were taking on the burn at the 8th and making the carry (still had to play it as a three shotter, though, green was just about in range in two but far too much trouble around it from the angle I had) and a nice birdie on 18, which is a really good closing hole.

Great course, not played it for over 15 years. Played Mortonhall a few times and I loved it.

Be interesting to see you still are by the end of next year. its nice being a member at a few clubs, but i found i didn't play them enough to warrant the cost after a while.

Nope. Just didn't play there enough over the summer to justify it.
