After a 9 year break from golf (Uni, rugby, work, beer, women all got in the way) I rejoined the course I learned the game on 2 years ago.

Today I have now signed up to a new course which is longer (Par 72 vs 69) with some of the best greens in the area and is properly maintained. It is a more demanding course with some great risk/rewards holes and, as a longer hitter I can see this course giving me an opportunity to us all the clubs in my bag and develop my game. I also see it playing into my game with 3/4 reachable par 5s.

Really chuffed, can't wait for the season to start and it's barely even Autumn!

I reckon you could've guessed!

Duddingston. Can't wait to get there for my first round as a member!

And of course, signature is now updated!

I want to play there, purely because they have a hole called "Death or Glory" and another called "Bum".

Death or glory is a great hole, burn running across it ready to catch those going for the green in 2.

There's another par 5 @550 yards. All down hill to a burn running across at 290. Needs a 310 carry to get over it so you've got to play short of it but the hill takes you down so got to judge it right. That then leave you 260 to the green. Think it's a 3 shotter!

"Burn" always confused me because there just isn't a burn in play on that hole..... but I recently realised that there is if you're not playing off the reds!

Great course Jamie - I might be joining you there in the new year!

Interesting thread this. My wife has been muttering about us maybe moving to Edinburgh in a few years time and so to amuse myself I began to wonder about golf clubs - but where to start! Assuming a city or outskirts location - hmmm - Duddingston does look pretty darned good. Must also take a gander at Mortonhall.

Congratulations for joining a great course. I am a member at Mortonhall. Seems there are a few people in Edinburgh, perhaps we should organise a game!

I have a few friends and colleagues who are members at Mortonhall and have played it many times over the years. Great course I always enjoy.

I have never played Duddingston but I heard many people saying this year that the course has been in fantastic condition. Enjoy!

Mortonhall always has lovely greens in the summer and very fast. The downsloping 16th green is "ridiculous".

Maybe you'll get an invite from someone, seeing as you're here for a week or two :D:thup: boom boom.

Great hole, should be an easy 4 and move on but instead it's clenched buttock time for the 2nd shot. 10th should also be an easy par three which never works out that way for me.

Fun course,
