I am 41, 18 month old boy, car is a 7 yr old mx5 which I have had from new, lowered and loved with 40k on the clock. I nearly replaced it with a boxster, but the missus stopped me for 2 yrs. My wife has had 2 cars and is now talking about getting another whilst I have had the MX5, she thinks 40k miles is change time. I am resisting change, as I know she will say it needs to be sensible, even though it will be MY go to work car... I would like to keep the MX5 and have it as a fun car it has little or no value, I own it out right I know it's history.

The day I sold my RX8 and bought a Peugeot Diesel - knew my time driving sporty coupes was over

drove back from golf today with the wind in my hair

With guys, it's more likely to be 'my hair in the wind'!

Always been an 'old man's car' enthusiast - the ride in parents (original) Rover 75 (and 90 and 3 Litre) was rather superior to brothers Triumph Herald and Spitfire (though the GT6 was passable).

Solid stable feel of BMW 5 or Audi A6 for me - albeit with a 'sports' element.

Hi all

Just realised I really am now an old sod..... I'm 33, I work in finance, I play golf, I've got an 18 month old boy and am stuck in the daily grind.......so to top it off the missus and I have just bought this bad boy (needs must)

My car history hasn't been amazing....but here are a few of the ones that I've loved in years gone by:

Rover coupe 2 litre turbo
MG ZS (the 2.5 litre V6)
Mazda MX5

And now here I am about to start driving a bus.

When did you realise you were tipping over the edge?

Sounds a bit familiar!

33 years old - almost
Work in finance - check
Play golf - almost
Young son - check
Daily grind - check

I find I go relatively sensible on the car front, and spend the next couple of years looking for something stupid, then visa versa - on stupid 6.2 litre petrol at the moment and found myself looking back at diesel options the other day just hoping the front disks don't give way under my ownership!

35, work in finance sector and have 4 year old son. Just waiting on delivery of a Mercedes A220 AMG Sport. Not sure which bracket that puts me in.
the bracket that has a steel backside- tough ride in an A220 AMG, went with the ML350 after trying that

Never really got into the fast, sporty car thing. Mine's an Audi A5 2.0TDi. But as for finally getting that old feeling... this time last year my stable finally emptied for the last time. The Honda VFR 800 was sold, quickly followed by my hooligan bike, a Triumph Street Triple R. Age and all the accidents finally caught up with me - I couldn't get my leg over anymore.

I haven't been able to get my leg over in ages, that's when you know you're getting old.....
