Hi to all, i used to be a good driver( decent distance and 7out10 times straight) but recently i have experienced a left to right ball flight of about 40 yards and not sure what causing it.

Please could you give possible reasons for this and how to change this.

Also could it be my driver??

If it's the same driver that you used before, and you haven't wrapped it round a tree inbetween times, then I'm afraid it aint the club's fault.

Driving is often one of the stronger parts of my game. Not today - I was all over the place and had to re-load four times. Off 16, this was a nightmare. Each time, however, the second ball went really well. Perhaps I was a little more relaxed knowing any chance of scoring on the hole had gone.... I am having a lesson on Thursday and hope to get some key adjustments made. What key areas do those of you good at driving focus upon? I am really after accuracy over distance - 250 yards into a gorse bush is not much use, as I discovered several times today.

I have to be honest and say I'd wait until the lesson and go through it with the pro and tell him your woes and the shot shape you are experiencing. He'll put you right in minute and without a video of your swing its hard for any of the experts (and numpties like me) to give an honest and considered opinion rather than subjective thoughts

Thanks - yes, I'll certainly wait to hear what he says. I'll post the feedback and what he gets me to work on. (Playing tomorrow and I'll probably drive well - such is golf).

Enjoyed my game today and I did drive much better. We only use driver on about 6 holes here - so difficult to judge. Fatally. I checked my lesson time for tomorrow and had a quick chat. "We're going to have a look at your grip...."
So I naturally spent the round fiddling!
We'll see what the lesson brings.

The lesson was split into two sections. My pro identified problems with grip and set up. My right hand was getting a little too far under the club - but more significantly, my hands were not far enough forward at address. We worked on set up for about twenty minutes using irons and then transferred set up ideas to the woods. Instantly more confident. The set up feels very different and it may take a while to get ingrained - but another very interesting session. Summary: check grip and set up.

This was the last in a series of six lessons I have had. I have concentrated upon the short game - up until today. The lessons began in March and have really given me plenty to work on. My hcp has also started to drop. The pro told me that the top six players in the three competitions that took place last week were all players who were currently having lessons. Food for thought.
