Neck Ties

I still wear and shirt and tie every day to work - also in a school.

Start a new job in Feb and part of me wants to drop the tie but I also quite like it......

Last time I wore a tie was on a MS Teams meeting about a year ago when I was on a call with my employer's founder & chairman. He's old school and likes a tie!

I worked on the board of an Airport Authority for 13 years and i dont think i ever wore a tie, my current job for a Nature Agency i dont wear one its mostly smart casual or technical fabric get ups. the only time i can remember wearing one in the last 20 years was for Golf socials and matches against other clubs.

Seems to be a consensus that weddings and funerals are the only places when most would wear a tie if required. Both extremely formal and important ceremonies in life and significant events.

The only other place they may have to is at a golf golf club which makes it even more of an anomaly these days.

I can’t think of another occasion/venue in the last 10 years or so I would ever have had to wear one, perhaps Royal Ascot, a visit to the Palace or a flash Opera House (just a guess) but not the sort of events I’ve attended.

I like ties :)
Me too.

Wore a tie every day of my working life. Wasn't a requirement; nobody made me; I just did and wouldn't have contemplated going in without one. Even if i was the only person wearing one. Even when I went in a Christmas and was the only person there. Each to their own. (On the other hand, can count on the fingers of one hand how many times I've worn one since I retired)

Our office is smart casual. The only time I wear a tie is if I’m sitting on an interview panel. Other than that it’s only for weddings and funerals. Oh I also wore one at our EGM - which is mandatory despite being held in the clubhouse. Embarrassing.
