My lowest Stableford points score!

Thought I was going to have one of those days on Sunday. Blank/Par/Blank/Blank start to the round. Managed to find a game somewhere and ground out 32 points with a further blank on the card.

Worst so far this year was 24 points a few weeks back. I've had worse but to be honest I've forgotten it which is probably for the best.

There's some impressively low scores in there - my personal worst being a 15 for which i got a certificate at the end of season lunch. But i dont get the angst expressed by those claiming the low 20's as their worst disaster. At our place, that's the low score week in week out. A bad day for someone yes, but an outright clubs-into-the-bin disaster. Not really.

Done the single figure points thing a few years back (7 or 9 cant remember)

Three off the tee on loads of holes, couldn't keep it in play, lost at least a dozen balls that day. Driver sure had a broken user

Made me realise that while putts gets the points on the card you need to be still in the hole by the time you reach the green or it wont matter if you putt like a god
Did the same course a year on with a hybrid off every par4/5 tee and scored 36 points (now that I know the course a bit better I'm back to driver off the tee there but lesson learned on tight new courses )

The lowest score mentioned in this topic is zero. Just wondered if anybody has ended up with a minus score due to penalty strokes? :)

Looking on the bright side, at least I got into double figures for both nines! 10 points out and 10 points back. Nice and consistent too! :)

I'll bite then

I thought zero (blob) was the least you could score in stableford. How do you manage a minus figure even if you pick up a penalty?

I've been told a story by a couple of people about an away day some of our members had at Woodhall Spa where one 'competitor' achieved 0 points for the first 18. Bets were taken on his afternoon score, and one bloke who had played with him in the morning predicted another score of 0. This proved to be correct. Apparently he did have an official club handicap of 28.

I wasn't there so can't confirm the accuracy of this tale, but the sources are both decent players.

My personal lowest in recent years was also at Woodhall (on the Bracken), where I accumulated 22.

Have had 26 Stableford points once. Felt so much worse though because I was off 23 at the time, when I was consistently shooting 18 over par in casual games etc and that is where I felt my game was!
