Left the house at 6am to catch the 8.55 from Edinburgh to Heathrow this was meant to land in London at the back of 10 it didn't get there till 11 as circled London for 25 minutes not to worry as Mike was there to greet me as we waited on Alan.
As we took the short drive down to Wentworth asked Mike about house prices as there's some cracking houses down that way and passed Ferrari,Maserati and Bentley showrooms and not and Arnold Clark in sight
Anyway into the Wentworth estate passing the back of the 17th green over to the 18th tee and onto the practise facility and Taylor Made lab where we were met by Taylor Made guys Ryan,Sean,Adrian,Christina and the GM guys Neil and Paul.
Paul McGinley was alraedy there and hitting his driver a TM Super tri on small launch monitor which would fit in a laptop case,it was superb to listen to a Tour player explaning about his spin rates and ball speed these guys aren't interested in club head speed its spin and ball speed.Sean who is really nice guy and a golfing encylopedia of knowledge changed a few weight setting and then a shorter shaft and the Paul notice the difference right away thats how good these guys are.
Ryan from Taylor Made went thru the presentation on the R11 and Superfast which was very interesting then it was off to lunch and a chat with the TM guys about our own golf and such.
Anyway onto my fitting after warming up hitting balls Sean asked me what driver i had at the moment he then set the R11 up the same and asked my bad shot, i can tell you i was nervous as hell having a film crew and photographer there me being a shy retiring sort of guy .
My first few were carry 207, 230 total then Sean changed the Bumper port on the bottom to Open and my average was 227 yard with a 249 yards total i did hit a few 235 carry 260 total ,these were measured using the track man monitor with my ball speed at 145 mph ,spin 2500 and my drop angle at 39.8 degrees they look for 40 degrees so i gained at least 20 yards to 28 yards max with the change of opening the club face, positively short by the guys on here but i'm one happy bunny .
Paul McGinley as the other guys said is a top bloke by the way and we got a bit of a clinic from him on his clubs and what he's trying with his wood set up,he hits his 3 wood in the top bracket on tour but his driver is in the pack for distances and wanted to know why,its was great listening to Sean tell him why.
Well it was time to go and i would just like to say a big thanks to Mike ,Neil,Paul and all the guys at Taylor Made who made us feel like a Tour Pro for the day, again thanks for a once in a lifetime experience.
Oh and by the way i don't think the white is a gimmick its a solid club better than my R9
Not even my flight being delayed for 2 1/2 hours on the way home could spoil what was a fantastic day ,again many thanks GM.
