I'm very pleased with how comps are run at our place recently, monthly medals/stablefords are becoming more like golf days!

For instance this months medal incorporates nearest the pin, nearest the pin in 2, fewest putt comp.
Of course theres the usual prizes for overall winner and division winners. Also points are awarded for the winner, 2nd, 3rd, etc like 10, 8, 7, 6 which counts towards an yearly order of merit. Theres even a best eclectic score over the year.

What do your clubs do? I'm guessing we've only just caught up and that your clubs have been doing this for years.

I think we're really lucky at our place. Each week there's a comp, with plenty of variety, like 3 clubs and a putter, yellow peril etc alongside the usual stablefords and strokeplays. Always opportunities to lose a few more quid...

Saw, may I ask how much you pay to enter these comp's?
Our Saturday comp is £3 to enter, we pay out 1st overall. then 3 section winners. I would have it 2 in each section but it's been like this for so long lots of members like coming 3rd in their section.
I hear open comps now have to pay VAT, so thats 20 per cent before we pay out anything!

Our Opens are £5 for an 18 hole comp and £15 for a 36 holer which includes a meal in between rounds. There is always a closest to the hole with your tee shot prize, usually on the 8th which is 101yds and closest to the hole on the 18th in 2. Sometimes there is also a longest drive and straight drive competition too.

Fairly run of the mill at our place. Comps most weeks but generally limited to medals and Staplefords. We get the odd bogey comp thrown in and sometimes something different if it is a long weekend but not much else. Costs £3 to enter including the 2s comp. Pizes are first, second, third and lowest gross.

Apologies for the delay but truth is I wasnt sure what it was until today. Its £4 which isnt too bad considering the multiple comps within a comp. I forgot to mention that we also have a birdie box where we pay a £1 for each birdie and in return you get a ticket in a box which gets drawn and you win the pot. Never won that though :p
