My best gollf investment

I have spent lots on clubs, bags, trollies etc. but three weeks ago bought a set of Galvin Green waterproofs for what I thought at the time was an excessive sum (anything over £50 being excessive for a Yorkshireman).

They have been my best buy...I would have died of exposure or 'caught my death of cold' (my late mother's constant worry) without them.

True eesentials for this British summer.

I know they are very good qualiy but sadly for me there are other brands that peform equally as well (proquip, FJ) a a fraction of the cost

Why is that sad?

Personally I've yet to try GG's but with anything I look at costing around the £300 mark for full suit it would need to perform 5 times better than my current proquip aqualite gear for me to be happy with the investment. My proquips kept me dry and warm while sitting on the ground at the Irish open but didn't boil me alive while walking. Can't ask for more really.

Blimey must be a wealthy Yorkshire man, marra. Thought if it cost paper money it was to much?

The trick is to get waterproofs that are 100% water repellant and not just 'water resistant'. Sounds obvious, but many of the guys on my recent golf day had waterproofs that couldn't cope with the volume of rain and spent 20 mins at lunch hair drying their clothes and 'waterproofs'!

For me, it doesn't matter the brand and price as long as it does the job.

I cant justify spending a huge amount of money on waterproofs, i just spent £130 on a set and think even that was high, quality material though.

I've just bought some karrimor sierra waterproofs and I am hugely impressed. I had the dog out during the recent northern torrential downpours and was bone dry when I got home.

Not bad for £45 for jacket and over trousers, shame about the dog who wasn't best pleased
