Lots of the science and maths papers these days are modular, so they do some in year 10 (14/15) and also the main bunch in year 11 (15/16)
Its good, in some ways, as it gives you an indication early on as to how your child is doing, so extra help can be sought if necessary. In other ways its unwelcome added pressure.
I have daughters age 17, 15 and 13, so we are doing A levels, and GCSE at the same time and little one starts her year 10 next year so is watching with interest
