Hi,

I have just had our clubs comp results sent through and saw that a bloke managed a 2 on a par 5 stroke index 5, he got 2 shots on it, how many points would that be please ?

Just curious in case I ever manage it .

par 5 so a birdie 4= 3pts ,eagle 3 = 4pts albatros 2 = 5pts plus he has 2 shots so 7 i would say ...

birdie=3 pts
eagle=4 pts
albatross=5 pts
if he's made a net 2 with the 2 strokes then he will get 5 pts but if its a 2 net 0 then it will be 7 pts.

Out of curiosity Midnight, have you any idea what this guy finished with? .. some feat for a guy off at least 23 h'cap , i know it a bit of a fluke but flippin eck ..

Yes mate he finished with 39 points and went round in 97

Not really mate, bad rough if you miss the fairway, but it is quite straight, the green is hard to read or that could be just me.
Looking at the stats for the hole on the comp, out of 87 players, 50 had a bogey or more, 31 made par.

Don't forget yardage should be way down the list of criteria for deciding Stroke Index. See Jez's Handicap matters articles in recent issues of GM.

yea i was just trying to figure the reason as to why the scoring is so high on this hole as to give it such a low index , acording to midnight its a pretty straight & short hole with not much trouble on it .. over half the field had bogey or worse , 31 pars , so only 6 players out of the field had better than par.
