Most Hated Commentary Phrase

Slightly off track
When commentator remarks amout the official on the end line must have seen that & didnt signal .. He is not suppose to signal hence no flag on flag stick , he communicates with ref via headset ..

When the say why did the player have to go off after treatment (changed a bit with new rule) this was brought in when players were feigning injury to run down the clock to try deter time wasting

your getting paid to report on the game at least know whats going on

Anyone, commentator or player, who doesn't use 'st' 'nd' 'rd' or 'th' when talking about a hole. E.g. 'I 3 putted on 9' or 'let's go over to tiger on 11'. NOOOOOOO! It's THE 9TH or THE 11TH!!

Think I might be alone on this.

Every time John Rahm steps up to the ball' 'now this kid is gonna be a superstar', 'he's the real deal', 'he's got some future in the game', 'this young man is going on to great things'

'three metal'

'he's hitting his hybrid, rescue, driving club or whatever they call it these days' - nope it's a hybrid and they've been around for a decade now.

Ewen Murray's mid-sentence word elongations: 'Now to Westwood on theeeeeeeee 17th tee'

This is the worst one. Had to mute it yesterday

Yup. This. Especially when used with "green" or "tee" ... "Let's have a look at Inbee Park on 18 tee" Just makes me cringe. And I'm not even a native speaker. The GoflChannel bunch does it all the time. Is it an American thing, maybe?

You're not alone.
Also, missing out whole words

You playing Thursday?
Sale ends Sunday

I hate when they play down a bad shot, especially from the big names. "he just pushed it a little" no, its in the trees, he's sliced it massively.

That's in the secret appendix c to the rules of golf. If a club player hits a shot like that, it is called a slice. If a pro hits a shot like that, it is either "cut a little bit too far there", "the wind got that" or "he blocked himself a little there". :D

"that's a great golf shot" ...... I don't understand the need for it when watching golf.

When a player hits an iron into the green, it lands short and spins back away from the hole. "Very unlucky". No it's not. They put back spin on the ball deliberately so allow for it or hit it without spin.

I hate it when Radar (as much as I love his on-course commentary) will talk up how incredibly difficult a shot is for 5 minutes, and how they'd do well to even get it on the green, only for them to knock it stiff. Happens so often.

Yeah that is very silly. Imagine it with commentary of other sports..
"What a great football goal that was"
"And he has scored an amazing rugby try there"
"Phil The Power Taylor with another darts 180"
"Federer with a fantastic tennis ace there"

They do it with womens football though. They can be commentating on a match and they insist on saying England ladies or Chelsea ladies. We know they are women, we can see that. Just call them England or Chelsea etc.

Your point is correct though, it is stupid.
