If you can tee it up later on in the afternoon then you can easily head out on your own and have a great time.

I used to be on the tee for 5pm weekdays after work and play as long as light allowed, if the tee was busy I would hit the practice area.

Again at the weekend you don't need to socialise if you don't want to. Just be polite and enjoy the golf, no one will judge you for that.

You'd certainly be fine at my club. No tee times, quiet enough most afternoons (unless there's something on), easy course to miss out a couple of holes if you want to keep our of the way.
I would say an unfashionable members' club with no booking system would be the perfect place for someone who wants to wander around playing golf on their own.

I play on my own quite a bit .
I like to hit a couple of drives off the tee.
But only one to the green is allowed.
But I chip and putt around the green.
Lots of people ask me if I want to join them but I just explain my wish to practice my game.
They are fine with this.
I do drink and eat in the clubhouse and play in the two comps a week though.
Just do what suits YOU.

In summer I am extremely happy to go out alone in the evening, maybe for 9 holes. I may pop in the bar for a light meal afterwards.
In fact, after a hard day's work there are few things I would rather do if the weather is favourable.
So "yes", golf can be for the unsociable! It's whatever floats your boat.

One of the benefits of joining a club is being able to go out when you want and you'll soon work out what peak times are each day. Even with your potential diagnosis it may be possible to find a couple of other members happy to turn up, hit it and go home again and like you aren't too interested in competitions, socialising in the bar after a game or want to discuss the minute details of world events.
