What's your most annoying golf shot? Is it the topped drive, thinned wedge or lag putt?

For me it definitely has to be the duffed chip, how hard can it be to knock a ball 15feet from the fringe to the pin. Although I very rarely do this anymore I still find it extremely frustrating when it does happen.

For me it is the perfectly* struck approach shot from the fairway because either i) I've misjudged the distance and I have cleared the green by 20 yards or ii) I've musjudged the distance and left the ball 20 yards short...

My ability to judge distance is awful, and the pay and place course I usually play doesn't have distance markers or yardage books!

Am getting better the more I play it though.

*technically not perfectly struck if it is short or sails through, maybe I should have said 'sweetly struck' instead?

for me it's got to me the chip, but not the duff chip where you hit about 2' but the chip where I hit the ball full in the face with the sole of the club and shoots across the green like a missile and nearly takes someones shin with it. I never used to do thsi but lately it's far too often

the third putt....

agree on the judging distance though - just recently I'm selecting a club, striking it well, it goes straight, and seems to land a touch short.

Either I've lost distance, someone has moved the distance markers, or I'm going blind....

It has to be the shank.

I can be a bit prone to it, and once you have had one, all your confidence seems to evaporate, and what was a languid, fluid swing of great beauty, becomes a short jerky ugly monstrosity.

It is also embarassing when you nearly take the head off the guy standing to your right.

Oops, sorry.

A second vote for the shank. I had 3 or 4 today and it was very frustrating when I was driving so well and then shanking my irons randomly.

I am suffering with a massive push right with the driver at the moment. It goes straight right at 45* with not a hint of fade/slice. :D :D :D
Played this morning and two tee shots went at least two fairways wide. Tried to correct after the first one and then hit a vicious hook left.
The most annoying thing was that on 3 holes i absolutely creamed the ball with a lovely high draw. :D
Walked off the course and booked a lesson so we will have to see if the pro can sort me out.

Has to be the shank or thinned chip when around the green. Both kill your confidence and then the next time you miss a green the pressure builds. I am shanking my chips big time at the moment but I'm trying to keep calm and patient and wait for my next short game lesson

Any shot where I know that I could have done better, especially after you have spent 4 hours on the range like I did today :D

Were these on the 11th /17th Russ? Bloody parllel fairways, I always make a mess of these two drives.
