Well that was not the best of performances from CM was it on the PGA.

When David L askes you a question as a summeriser he expects an opinion. Butch always has one but there were a few times when CM just said he didnt know or didnt have an idea!

And then the "5 under" will win prediction.....not that informed was it.

I got put off him on the US OPEN coverage when he was asking Sergio to smile and be a bit more light hearted on the course!!!! Pots and kettles

Anyway what do we all think.

Think he needs a bit more media training for me

A great addition.

I still can't believe he hasn't been knighted yet.

:D

He is marginally worse than Mark Roe, but Mark Roe is worse than useless so it doesn't say much for him.

Yes, I think Monty is a welcome addition to the team. Well informed and interesting he is a breath of fresh air and has a wealth more golfing experience than some of the "Almost Ran" colleagues.

Far better than Faldo's attempts at golf commentary in the USA.

Mark Roe is worse than useless so it doesn't say much for him.

+1

I think Monty may be the best of a bad bunch on Sky.
How the likes of Mark Roe and Simon Holmes can be considered as expert pundits with the amount of drivel they spout week in - week out is laughable.

Personally I prefer Monty to Mark Roe, Mark Roe just slags people off, slates their game and doesnt really have anything good to say about anyone.

On the other side, Monty is constructive, knowledgeable, acknowledges good and recognises luck. Just wish his teeth didn't look like they were going to fall out.

But must say Sky should never use Butch Harmon, the most droll, monotone boring fart on the planet. He is missing his Roy Cropper bag, and thick specs. Fair does he is a great coach, but pundit not.

I could get to like Monty as a summariser - he's getting better and will grow into the role.
I'd far rather someone admitted that they didn't know than spout a load of drivel as do Roe and Holmes.
Butch is better at the job, but then he's had longer to do it.

I prefer Monty to Mark Roe and frankly I cant stand Monty!

They are both talking to golf fans, I dont need Monty telling me the same thing twice in a different way just in case I didn't understand it the first time. For example "a player these days need to get up and down from a bunker 8 times out of ten, yes, he really has to sand save 4 out 5 times" or words to that effect.

I think Monty is currently a low handicap pundit as he has only just started. Think he'll get down to + if he's given more time. The boy Allis has 100 years under his belt after all and is surreal like a fine wine. Dont agree re Sir Nick, I think he's the beezneez albeit he should be in the Olympics for upsetting people....not sure Ive included enough cliches.
