Might have to quit the game - just knackered my back with a 'conventional' swing

Good point, why change what you are preaching to us every day.
As has been said,it will settle down pretty quick and you will be out
preaching S&T in notime.

Oddly I was thinking about you Pokerjoke as I was hobbling back to the clubhouse... not those kind of thoughts though!!!! :p

Just goes to show what a crock of sh*t that 'Rory's power move' is... I should sue them! Rotating your hips is BAD for you

I actually warmed up today for the 1st time ever and even went to the practice green for 15min (1st round at my new course and didn't want to card a cricket score after yesterdays lame performance, also using my shiny new AP2's for the 1st, and possibly last, time) and felt fit as a fiddle for the 1st time in ages

The shot isn't so far from my normal 'Bubba' push-fade swing so I simply chose to hang back on it a bit (weight-wise) to guarantee getting it airborne over the dogleg, a little less extension and a little more rotation, firing the hips 'around' instead of 'up'. I consider myself to be pretty flexible.... obviously not any more

Now I am really confused, you state that it wasnt much different to your normal swing, so was it a slightly adapted version of stack and tilt swing? or are you saying your normal swing is actually a conventionally one as your title says as it was only a bit different to your normal swing? How do you swing it :p

I hope it clears up soon though, back injuries are not to rushed so take your medicine and do as your told.

On a side note you reckon youre pro and the osteopath have a business partnership, he teaches dodgy swings to get bad backs then he refers you onto his cousin to make some money as well? :)

Hopefully and most likely it will be a soft tissue injury, a strain or pulled muscle. Ibruprofen and an ice pack asap and continue with the Ibruprofen for a couple of days after the pain eases. If it persists to be severely sore after more than a few days get yourself to a physio, speaking from experience I would never use an Osteopath and only a chiropractor who came highly recommended by someone who is not a relative!I've had the middle of one of my discs taken out and it doesn't stop me playing, you'll be fine in a few days I'm sure.

I normally hit a push-fade with my weight favouring the left side.. I can rotate my hips left to cut the ball more if required but the rotation is (correctly) somewhat restricted as I'm on my left side.... by staying on my right side my hips flew open at 14,000kmh... 20 times faster than Rory's... and my chocolate spine melted.. I think I've snapped my Twix

Um..............you're scaring me know

How long did that take to get over?

Taking some Diclofenac Sodium 50mg tablets (which are supposed to be quite strong anti-inflammatory tablets) which were prescribed for my bad knee that only got better last week

Diclofenic are stronger than ibuprofen for sure although the latter always eases my aches and pains. Do you have a history of back trouble James? Hope it gets better soon and something to think about is to work on strengthening the core elements you use in the swing (S&T or otherwise!). I had a few sessions with a qualified PT who is also TPI qualified and my nagging lower back pain has been a thing of the past.

Get well soon...

Sorry to hear about your injury, hope you make a speedy recovery.

Lets hope it allows you more time to post on here eh....

Had the op in the March and back in training by June, played rugby in September :)Never touched my toes since though! And still have to be very careful, even sneezing can hurt!Once you are relatively pain free google Mckenzie exercises. You have to do the exercises too though, just googling won't work!

Have to echo Whereditgo's recommendation.

Go see a physio in the first instance - preferably a sports physio.

Genuinely feel for you fella, you obviously love your golf and I wish you a speedy recovery.

Just go steady on it for a while and let it repair itself. Once the backs gone, it ain't just golf you give up on.

hope your back gets better soon James. It’s a minor miracle you’re walking anyways :p

Where’s the new club out of interest?

James, maybe you did a Stack and Jilt.

I have suffered for so long with a Sagitarius back (It's got a mind of it's own) You have probably pinched the nerves which will be painful but tends 'normally' to be fairly short lived. Best thing is to rest it up, stay flat for a few days and take some ibuprufen.

James, i can put you in touch with a great chiropractor whos based in caterham, hes also a keen golfer and has helped me no end. Ive been to him not being able to walk, and have been back playing the same week.

That'll be great if you PM me the details.

Just phoned the hospital and they said I could go down there as I'm more likey to get a 'full inspection' than just getting some painkillers from the doctor... but it's a 4hr wait and she said it was better to go tomorrow after 9am if I can bear the pain..... C3PO walks more fluidly than me now
