Members - Clubs - How Far?

My club is 3.7 miles away, it normally takes no more than 10 minutes to get there, I wouldn't want to travel too much farther because I play so often that the additional cost of fuel would become issue, also with living near Manchester the roads can be a big pain.

When I lived back in the smoke, the club was 4 miles away and 15 minutes on a good day, 30 minutes on average and anything upto an hour in rush hour.
Do I miss all that hassle...........not one bit!

15 minutes for me. Would probably travel up to an hour if I had to. Don't mind taking the car out for a spin as well.
It's important with those electric cars to take them on longer runs. Tescos and back ruins the charge :o.

Mine in 13 miles 25 mins door to door.

If RD was the same distance of an extra 10 minutes, would you be tempted?

possibly, but the real killer is the time it takes to get round outside the members times which is before 9am at the moment.

I can turn up at Nairn more or less any time and get on and round in a reasonable time. At RD you have the place full of yanks most days and can take over 5 hours a lot of the time.

i gave it some thought again this year esp as its £450 for two courses, but its the casual rounds in the afternoon that made it a no no.

Which club are you at Rod?

8 miles for me, but 3 if I stay at gf's

I'm at brokenhurst. Ferndown and Parkestone are probably closer to me in terms of miles, but they take longer to get to though.

I didn't have the gf option...... My wife wouldn't go for it :o :(

I am leaving my current club which is 25-30 minutes away from home and work and joining (well, have joined, currently at both) one that's only 8 minutes away from home but about 40 minutes from work.

Distance was a major factor in the change, along with it being an older, established club, albeit more expensive.
Roll on the summer.

I presume cutting in isn't encouraged with RD having marshalls also.

Where about do you live in regards to Nairn and RD? Ardesier was nice when I stayed there last summer, as was Drumnadrochit.

Parkstone is 5 mins from my home , Best course in Dorset and getting even better , Nearest one to me as well , others are Knighton Heath and Canford Magna , no need for me to go any further , Overseas my Villa is on the Golf Course

Cooden is 3 miles from my front door, so about 5 or 10 minutes away depending on traffic.
It would take a little longer at the moment as all the roads around here are flooded.

I might have to disagree on that one ;) Will see what ours is like come the summer after our new greenkeeper has worked his magic!

I have heard that Parkstone has improved beyond recognition in the last few years though, must take up our reciprocel soon.

with it being an out and back course its difficult to cut in and if you did most of the time you would just be putting yourself behind more visitors and its a long way to go to play 9 holes during the week. I live the A82 side of Inverness so im 50 miles door to door for RD and 20 to Nairn, but it can be done in 20 mins. I work for HIAL so Im at Inverness Airport a few times a week and thats only a couple of miles from Nairn. we are thinking of moving to Nairn at some point, but my wife works for SNH and thats walking distance to work for her.
