Maybe It's Not All About The Short Game

Think how well I'd score if I had your short game

Haha well you would probably be off plus 6 :D

Talking of +6, a certain guy at Broadstone moans because he cant putt but still manages to shoot low 60's regularly.

I think a certain level of ability to get down regularly within 3 from short game positions is important, but more important is the ability to keep the ball in a playable position off the tee and hit on or near greens in regulation, something you do really well hence the 4 handicap :)

Not sure i can see the comparison being made for your pros and amateurs. The pros play on courses that are generally hundreds of yards longer, they hit the ball so much further on all their shots too. A pro would very rarely hit a ball to purposely be within 60 yds as any layup is gonna want to be further out to a preferred yardage. Amateurs don't generally think about this and smash it as far as they can to get closer to the green, without a care to the eventual distance.

That's old hat now.
Statistics prove that the closer the ball is to the hole, the fewer the amount of shots needed to get the ball into the hole.
The modern-day tour pro won't generally be laying up to 60 yards or similar when they can reach a green that doesn't have too much danger around it.
