Match Play Help URGENT !!!!

When I pointed out the possibility of disqualifaction due to inability to play by the due date, the guy from the management committee pointed out an extension that was allowed for the Winter League final, (nowt to do with me) and also a date for a match was extended last season, I don't remember this, so is saying precedence has been set.

Your the competitions secretary aren't you?

The MC expect you to mange the comps don't they?

If they are preventing you from putting effective policies/procedures in place and in essence are hamstringing you from doing a decent job then walk away. You cannot run competitions if you don't have guidelines (CoC's) that govern how the comps run....the CoC's are not just for your benefit....they're not for the Management Committees benefit....they are for the benefit of the players, the club members, that you are trying to organise comps for.

Tell the MC that by not ratifying the CoC's you've put forward they are doing a disservice to the club members. Give them 2 weeks to ratify the CoC's. If they don't do it just walk away. TBH its quite simple....they might not want you in the role, they might want you to walk away. If that's the case why would you want to keep "working for them"....its really not worth the bother and most of your posts emit a deep frustration at the difficulties you are trying to overcome on a seemingly weekly basis.

Tell them to shove it and get back to enjoying your own golf.

If this does get resolved, then I have to take the flak for two more weeks, then I can throw in the towel.

If you do go....go properly.....the moment any of the committee/your replacements come looking asking for advice....tell 'em to swivel.....don't let them prey upon your good nature.

I expect that you've provided your best advice and guidance in the CoC that you've recommended, and that they are all in accordance with the Rules and Decisions. That's the best that you can do. It's unfortunate that some Management Committees are not well versed in the Rules and Decisions and try to make decisions that do not conform with them. Those that are not versed in the Rules and the game need to take the advice of those that are. Just because they are on the MC, they are not experts (at anything?).

Amen to that.

Update. As of 5pm last night I had received nothing from the club regarding the management minuted item over KO match extensions, shock horror, so I text both teams to go ahead with their arranged match last night.

I've not heard the outcome, but they got wet!!!! LOL !!!!!

Which Club is it please CF and good luck, hope it resolves itself.

Have you any support ? Whilst you may be making all the decisions do you have a committee running the Comps or I shall everything down to you?

It has the name of a famous player, but no connection to. We have a committee three others), formed by me to curb my excesses. On this call they sort of advised against, but hey I think I've come out ok, although the management committee man lost, which worries me as this may now roll on and on and on.
I feel as though I've acted in the best interests of both parties and have a clear conscience.

Trying to be helpful....your role is to act in the best interests of the field as a whole.

Whilst the field obviously includes these players, the correct decisions may not be seen to be in their best interests - even more so when limiting the time line to the immediate issue.
