In match play doubles KO, a date was set for ties to by played by. In one tie the teams could not agree a date and have both given me differing reasons why they cannot now play before the due date. I have ruled that they can extend the due date until the end of next week as I did not want to appear unfair to either team. THEY CANNOT PLAY THIS WEEK AT ALL!!!!

This apparently has "got out", lord knows how, I only decided it yesterday !!!!!!!!, and there are grumblings that I've allowed this. Can I actually do this under R+A Rules (I cannot find anything).
WE HAVE NO RULES IN PLACE REGARDING OUR COMPS...as I have said on here. We have some which are awaiting ratification, but that's it.

HELP HELP HELP !!!!!!!!!!!:confused::confused::confused::confused:

Kick them both out, simples.

If they couldn't agree to play between them and exceeded the the cut off time, there both out, maybe then they'll think before entering when they have to little time to play or too many restrictions to play.

If you have a date to be played by and they are unable to arrange the match then both DQ - by giving extensions you make a rod for your own back with everyone wanting one

Only ever give one on the extreme exceptional circumstances or if it's the semi final

Just tell them that they have to be on the tee at a given time on the last day that the round has to be played. They will either both turn up, one pair, one player, or none, if one pair (or one player) turn up they are awarded the tie and if no one turns up they are all dq'd

Extension for all or not at all imo. Out of interest how long do they have to play their match?

4 weeks!!!!!!

I was being a soft touch. One team claimed son was unable to play due to exams, yet was seen at the course every night that week, and cannot play this week as one is now on night this week. The other team has a notoriously pain in the bum to arrange games with and now cannot play this weekend due to him having his daughter this weekend after a difficult fight to have custody at weekends.
So I've ruled that an extension can be allowed as a one off. Can I do this? And hell yes I wanted to disqualify them both, but showed compassion. Surely this is right?

Like this. Wanted to do this. But know they cannot.

Extensions almost always allowed at ours, when theyre given theyre told that the onus on them is to get the following round played in time and they will lose out if asking again for another extension. Everyone knows this and thankfully it is very rarely abused

(A couple of years ago I was through to the winter final both singles and pairs when I blew a calf muscle. Both opponents were offered the match but refused to take it and agreed to wait until I was fit again so we played the winter finals in August! but this was a big exception)

Ultimately until you have rules written down youre gonna be by the seat of your pants and some will agree and some will get upset

R+A RULE PLEASE !!!!!!! If there is one to cover.

There is no R&A rule

Rules for Knockouts are covered by the Club Knockout rules.

You have made a rod for your own back by giving an extension for pretty flimsy reasons because now you wil have to give them all one of requested to ensure your integrity is intact.

In the absence of any club rule, you can but you shouldn't have done.

Not in the case of matchplay draws.

Post #5 is your remedy. You (as the Committee) can always correct a mistake.

Again.....LPP, we have no rules!!!!!! I've been trying to put them in place but got knocked back and they are STILL awaiting "ratification by the Management Committee"

Sensible option.

Given the amount of crap you're having to deal with on a regular basis, I'd be resigning from the position and let the Management Committee deal with it. Sounds like the club from he'll.

Have to agree and any decision being made seems to irk someone and cause friction so seems a thankless and tiring job. Bin it and let someone else have the grief. As you've made the decision, the precedent is set so expect further requests

Sigh...agreed, and don't I know it. I've got rules ready to deal with all this, but haven't been allowed to implement them. THey are posted of with a note saying "subject too ratification". If they'd been ratified in March this year I'd have no option, but they weren't so I have, and will stand by it. I will explain to anyone who asks why .BECAUSE WE HAVE NO RULES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks everyone. Beer time...well cider actually....and chocolate lots and lots of both.
