Masters tradition.

That they persist, and get away with, the racist tradition of the white boiler suits is a greater scandal I think.

Eh? You must be a millennial. Seeking moral outrage wherever you can, creating it where it doesn't even exist. Get back to your Fair Trade coffee and find a mirror to check your beard......

Football style shirts, blasphemy!

I can hear the sound of cravats being torn off globally as members gasp for breath after choking on their pimms :D
The other problem when viewing a golf tournament over several days is that the players often wear different coloured clothing on different days. So if player X wears a green shirt and white trousers on day 1, but a red shirt and black trousers on day 2, it gets a bit difficult to recognise him from a distance at first. Maybe pro golfers should be required to always wear the same colours? White for Danny Willett, black for Gary Player, red for Tiger Woods, etc.

To recognise them I normally listen to the commentator who always says who is playing a shot or read the graphic that normally comes up when they are playing the shot

There will be 156 of them at The Open though (& I doubt Gary Player will be one of them so I guess that free's up black!)

You don't get all that if you actually go to a tournament!

Then look at the scorers placard.

Or check the tee times and see the group that has come from and check and see who is behind them

If you can't see who they are by their face then how can you see a name on their back

Surely April Fool was a couple weeks back

Don't forget tiger, doubt he'll be there so just 154 colours for the players to fight over :D

:D It'd be cool to see them all rock up in the assembly hall on a Thursday morning fighting over the various coloured kits, Rory can only find a XXL in a colour called 'forget-me-not' so cant show off his nips and some poor bloke misses out altogether and has to play in his pants

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

Maybe they should wear the colours from the country they are from? Then that would narrow down the players and maybe make it easier to view from a distance, maybe matching golf bags to but instead of Ping/Titleist down the side it should be the players names in big bold letters like the OEMs use........... Names on shirts??? Next it'll be yellow and red cards for slow play offences for the rules official who'll be in Gary Players colour......... Black.

There are not always scoreboard carriers with every group. With the possible exception of Robert Rock, they all wear baseball caps, which makes it difficult to see their faces. Some players such as the late Payne Stewart or Christina Kim were/are instantly recognisable on the course, but most of them are not!

So does Rory wear green, white and orange or red, white and blue?:p.......................................hides behind sofa..

I always feel for the caddies in those suits as they must be sweating buckets. Pointless in the modern era but then Augusta has a number of these things which they believe make them superior. I mean patrons, really?

Too many Yanks for that! There are plenty of shirt, trousers, and baseball cap colour combinations to choose from, which would make individual golfers more easily identifiable. Yellow cards (and penalty strokes) would be a good idea for slow play though!

i think the caddys are made to wear the boiler suit to stop them looking scruffy ,
just take a look at the state of some of the caddys dress sense on normal events ,some look like they were found in a back alley.

I think to help with this we can all be inspired on identifiable outfits (and perhaps other things too) by the film Logan's Run!

That was the original idea I believe. There was a good piece about the caddies at Augusta recently, can't remember where i read it, possibly BBC sport website. Times have moved on though. Do the players outfits look any better? Caddies look fine to me in shorts and polo shirt and considering the size of bags they have to carry they need all the help they can get in remaining cool in hot temps.

Absolute classic Delc. I've roared with laughter reading this.

We go a 55" 4k TV earlier this year. You can even tell if the player has wet or dry shaved from 400yds...

Get a bigger telly!!
