One thing that we have to remember is that although the Masters is one of the Majors it is not an Open competition. Joe Blogs, the pro down the road has aboslutely no mechanism for getting an entry into The Masters. It is an invitation only event. Joe Bloggs could if he played well enough through local and final qualifying manage to enter and take part in The Open and The US Open.

So is there a flaw in the Masters being a Major as an invitation only event? It doesn't even have as many places up for grabs (sorry invites) as a regular tour event.

So as an invite only event, the organising committee can do what they want really and get away with it.

They are hideous, its a throwback to the old slave days of the south.

I agree with HNJ suggestion.

The caddies according to colin Byrne Goosens old caddie are poorly treated at Augusta, unlike other tour events. It appears the Masters organisers like to keep the "hired help" in their place.

A few years ago all the caddies at the masters were black....thats true.

(Black caddies have also played an integral part in the history of the Masters Tournament. At the Augusta National Golf Club, golf legend Jack Nicklaus won his first Masters in 1972 with the assist of caddie Willie Peterson. And Carl Jackson caddied for the renowned Ben Crenshaw. In fact, before Elder played in the Masters 33 years ago, African American caddies could be found working the course full-time, providing valuable knowledge and assisting the players in their efforts to win the coveted green jacket. Non-Augusta caddies couldn't participate in Masters Tournaments prior to 1983. When officials lifted the ban in 1983, golfers began to bring regular tour caddies to the Masters. That's when black caddies began to disappear. Today, only a few black caddies regularly work the PGA Tour.)

The fact that they couldn't even get overalls that fit is sufficiently demeaning, can't remember her name but one female caddie had more turn-up than leg left.

That said, a standard uniform for caddies is not wrong though if you are going to do that a few of the players need to smarten up (or diet).
