Mark Roe and Monty on Sky

Ive enjoyed it too. Did anyone see that guy hit 405 yards? Cant remember his name now or I'd google it.

Thought Monty was good banter tonight... makes a refreshing change to see a Scot actually smile (didn't know they could......!) :ears:

Don't care too much for Roe due to an incident I witnessed at St Georges... When he was particularly 'unsavoury' to a female spectator...

Anyhow, not wanting to spoil a positive thread regarding TV coverage of 'our' favourite sport... I too enjoyed the studio banter between Monty & Mark Roe... Golf wasn't too bad either...

I just happened to come in and switch the TV on at the point that they were doing the 18th. They actually showed it in the news update on Sky Sports News too (my channel was there as I switched on).

I switched right over to watch and thoroughly enjoyed it. I thought Monty came across quite well. Couldn't figure out whether Roe was giving "friendly" banter or was just being the ass he usually is........? Was interesting and fun to watch though, nice to know that my Sunday best (in the summer on a warm dry day with the wind behind and I've caught it right out of the face with perfect timing) shot, is not too different from Monty too :fore:

Saw a snippet on SSnews this morning.

Did Monty bounce one off Rae's Creek onto the 12th green or did I imagine that..?

yep monty was questioning that aswell , only saw it on sky news but it happened , he also played a draw with the driver that seemed very straight , maybe even leaking right , montys responce , well thats a draw for me .. make ya wonder about the accuracy of the thing ..

I think he was joking about the draw thing, as he can't really hit one and the shot he hit on the 13th was pretty straight as opposed to his usual fade.

The ball kicking up off Rae's Creek was a bit weird though. Perhaps it was frozen over because of the winter weather?

Thought the banter between Monty and Roe was good and it was interesting to hear how Monty viewed the holes to be played and planned his shots - even if I can only dream about hitting the same shots. Made a great interlude to yet more 72 hole stroke-play coverage which can become repetitive unless there are particular players you want to follow e.g. Westwood, McIlroy, Donald etc.

Would love to have a go on the simulator and see if I can get round Augusta in less than 200!!

I really do hate Monty!!! I just want to punch him. I have hated him ever since I saw him turn to a camera man and say "if I was not here you would not have a job"... clearly the opposite is true! So to have to hear him talk about himself so much last night was PAINFUL!!!!

The shot centre is good, its good to see one of the best ever golfers in Europe struggle to hit a draw and then when hitting his stock fade over does it on the first and hits a draw on the second attempt (even though he hit the fairway).

Makes me feel a bit better...

You didn't have to, you surely have other channels on your telly .

I have a friend who has played Augusta, he's a good scratch player and played it in normal conditions, he shot 10 over with if I remember correctly about 45 putts, he said the greens were extraordinary.
