So tomorrow, 20 of our fuddle is turning up at Horsley lodge to play in there seniors 4 BBB Comp. Not expecting a great deal as the comp is a max Hcap of 18 so according to WHS I am probably losing 3 shots. It is off the white pots which surprised me seeing as it is a Senoirs comp. But it is what it is. Am actually looking forward to it. But I had to Google exactly what the scoring format is 😂 I suppose every day is a skool day.
Oddly enough I have been looking to get someone to drop in my place as I am off on me Jols first thing Wednesday morning and you know what the day before yer jols is like.
Al let you know how rammel I have been 😁

Don't forget, if you can't contribute to your sides score, pick up and contribute to a decent pace of play.

I'm amazed you haven't played one before. Pretty much all of the opens around here are 4 bbb. Great format, fun to play, minimal pressure because you are part of a team.

One thing to think of, after rulefans excellent comment, there may be times when one of you putts out in order to give the other a free run at their putt. For example, you knock in a 2ft putt for a 4, 😉, allowing your partner a free run for a 3. If they go before you they may be worried about leaving a dodgy 4th shot and being more tentative.

99% of my golf is midweek fuddle. So it either medal or stableford. The lads do play a lot of opens during the summer but holidays do get in the way.
Oddly enough I played my first Texas scramble earlier this year.

The other view of that putting scenario is, the player A takes the 3ft putt first, as he assumes his partner B will hole the 2ft putt, in case player B proves him wrong.

Absolutely. Whichever way looking at it helps you. If the person misses the shorter putt, does it put more pressure on the other person? You have to work that out for yourselves.

And another thing on putting. After one of you or your teammate/buddy putts first, your opponents may concede your next putt before your teammate putts - even though you might think your putt is not a gimme. However that is their decision. Do not then putt. You have to pick up. They may have conceded your putt to avoid you giving your teammate information on line and/or weight of putt. This is not a particularly common thing to happen, but it does happen - especially if both you and your teammate's putts are on similar lines and you leave yours short - your opponents may decide that they don't want your teammate to see the line as you would most likely putt out before your teammate.

You are talking matchplay. Most 4BBB is stableford. It may be matchplay, but I'd be surprised.

That is match play.

Best not to confuse .

There was a croc of crap Fragger 😂
Well I remember it , not a croc in sight 😂😂😂

Anyway we were a machine, in our fuddle of 20 lads that went, we shot 43 points and dragged £25 each as joint winners.

Apparently we are at the moment joint 5th in the club comp. With 45 points winning it.

Got to say I really really enjoyed the format.

However, why do I have these moment of thick fog.

Last hole at Horsley Lodge ( which was gorgeous), is a 175 yd up hill par three. 3 or four bunkers in front of green and a pond at about 100yds. So why did I go with a driver. why did I not hit an iron over the pond, chip onto the green and minimum 2 putt.

On a positive, my driving apart from the last hols was excellent.
