Obviously no teams to support in Aylesbury...in fact, none between Aylesbury & Manchester.
Most Man u "Fans" would struggle to name 3 current players as most are bored housewives with no interest in football but claim to be Man U fans...What happened to supporting your local team.

Glory Hunter

I refer the Honourable Gentleman to the last word of my previous post on this subject.

So you're not allowed to support a team if you don't go and see them play? Who's your team? If its not one of the "Big" 4 or 5 then your team has less than 30k fans. What an idiotic thought process.

And as for being a Glory Hunter - I began supporting ManU in 1972.

If Rooney is having trouble with life, under Fergie's management, I would think he could be on a downward spiral.

I hope for his sake it is just a wee bit of 'the grass is greener' as other clubs will want a return for their money and he WILL play with ankle knocks ... real or imagined.

Where to now??

I don't know if he has the temperament to hack it overseas.

With the form he's shown this season City or Chelski or whoever are welcome to him.
Sell him, close the chapter, move on.

Heard today on SSNews, someone asked how many ex-Utd players have gone on to bigger and better things?

Not many.

But most of those Fergie kicked out. Rooney is going on his own accord, much like Ronaldo. His best years could still be ahead of him, unlike a lot of the past the sell bys who leave. A bit like people who have left Arsenal. Most have failed, but a few, Wiltord for instance have done well.

Key thing is, will they buy in the January window? I can't see how they can sustain 750m of debt with no 'star' players to bring in the sponsorship and shirt sales. Berbatov isn't going to cut it.

If Shrek stays til next summer, he can buy his way out for 5m. Not a bad deal for him, terrible for Utd.

It's one thing saying how Utd have always replaced players in the past but circumstances are a little different now.

A few years ago Utd's future was to be built on Ronaldo & Rooney. Now they'll both be gone. Tevez too. Scholes & Giggs can't have long left and quite frankly I doubt Fergie has either. Ferdinand is a worry too with injuries.

How much will you get for Rooney. Possibly not a lot given his contract situation and even if you do get £50m then how much of that will the Glazer's pocket?

If Fergie retires in two years time, with a new manager, not a great deal of money to spend and no huge stars in the squad then there is a real danger of united losing touch with City & Chelsea.

Couldn't agree more...no doubt some "Man U Fans" from London, Ireland etc (anywhere except Manchester) who have never been to Old Trafford in their lives will post their disagreement !!

This attitude really racks me off. I live in Aylesbury. Miles from anywhere ManU are ever likely to play. I can't justify the expense of travelling to OT to see them if I could get a ticket anyway.
I can support a team I've never seen. I support England but I've not seen them either.

Knob.

yep really annoys me as well. Been an armchair supporter of MUFC since about 1963 when they beat Leicester City in the FA Cup final. Yes I have been to OT on several occasions, and watched them many times when they have come to London. In fact i got thrown out of Crystal Palace when The Eagles beat the Red Devils 5-0 with a right back called Paddy Mulligan scored 2 first half goals. (I think he only scored 5 in the whole of his career.

As for supporting your local team, well after being threatened with a knife in the mid 70's (after a United game) i started watching my local non league football club. Thirty Six years on and I still watch them, i have been to Swindon, Bradford and last year Stockport in the FA Cup and all over the country in the FA Trophy including Scarborough before they become a league team. I have worked on the committee sold programmes and was a trustee for the club for 10 years, and I still help with collecting sponsorship money (from the supporters)

And what do i think of the present situation at Man U, I said last season they were struggling, to keep relying on Giggs, Scholes and last season Neville shows the lack of investment by the Americans.
As for Rooney, sell him the mans an idiot. if he doesn't want to play for the club, get rid of him.

As for the money in the PL, well its obscene with all this money going OUT of football. I go to some terrible grounds where the players dont get paid and the clubs struggle to pay the electric bill and the referee. The sooner the whole thing falls apart the better.

SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL FOOTBALL CLUB.

RANT OVER!!!!!!

I despise everything about united. Those who are going on at united fans who dont go to the game etc. The answer is there are fans and supporters. supporters follow the team, support the club and put their cash where there mouth is. fans sit at home infront of sky tv etc.

Im a Liverpool fan been going for 20 years now, home and away, with europeon trips too.

The rooney saga for me is funny as i love the way the media display ferguson as dealing well with his star players. Ince, keane, stam, beckham etc. Every thought you media jerks that he as dreadful man management skills, hence why these issues constantly arise. Just a thought.

Very good points made..

With the Glazer family running man utd things deff dont look good.

Ronaldo was sold for 80 million pounds, alot of money you would think would have been used to bring in a player of the same level but NO they made one fairly good signing but that was it. The Glazers are eating away at man utd like cancer, and no one can stop them. Its a shame for football not only man utd.

and

If Rooney is going to leave man utd need to sell him now in Jan, cause there is a clause in the contract that he can buy out the last year of his deal.

Be intresting to see how it unfolds but i really feel man u need to keep a hold of rooney. Maybe this press conference of fergie's was a mind game on his part to back rooney into a corner and force him to keep his head down and get on with it at man utd football club.

not really sure which you are, are you? think you have them back-to-front it's the fan(atic)s who go anywhere, at any price,

I 'supported' Man U back in the 50's - pre Munich. Never saw them, except on a Pathe newsreel (didn't have TV, lived in Brighton) - just radio commentary and the papers. Then I got a life . . . never have been a 'fan' of any team

Not sure it is that simple.

What if you can't afford a seaon ticket, or to travel to the away games, are you less of a fan than a rich bloke eating prawn sandwiches in a box every game?
