Low Mid or High Handicap?

Definitely not fair to class 16 handicap as high if that is the perceived average ability of the nations golfers. I think the two shot per hole is a good cut off. Lower is interesting. I guess the real good guys off plus numbers skew the general perception of scratch upwards. I guess if you are being picky low would be plus handicap to around 3 and then a mid low point (is there a better name?) to around 7

Is that not what the handicap catergorys are for?

Catergory 1 = low 5 and below
Catergory 2 = Medium 7 to 12
Catergory 3 = High 13 to 18
Catergory 4 = High 18+

Sorry kid, you're a high handicapper off 20 imo. I'd call you a mid handicapper once you get to about 16, low from 8 down.

I agree. Sorry.

Whats with all the sorrys guys,
No need to be sorry everyone has to start somewhere if we were all born that good im sure most of us would be in Dubai now :D :D
It was just a general question i had.....

The only thing im hoping for myself is that i dont get too impatient to get down to single figures as everything might start to go a bit pear shaped and i might start to resent the game.

Undoubtedly it will go pear shaped on the way down. You'll probably have a month or so where you play great golf and the scores come tumbling along with the handicap. Then it'll be like a switch going off and you'll struggle to keep it in the same postcode and be languishing with fewer shots to use. Thats when the patience is needed. Trust that you are doing the right things in terms of any lessons and practice and believe in your technique. Don't try and look for a quick fix. You'll get there. No point getting there too early with all the temp greens etc. Time your run for the start of the new season and the big events at your club

All sound advice Homer.....If only this wet stuff falling from the sky over here would stop i might actually be able to walk onto the course .......At this stage i might need Waders instead of my FootJoys.. and maybe a lifejacket... :D :D

That's the joy of living in such a beautiful part of the world. You can't have all that scenery and courses and good weather. That would just be unfair. I'm putting some extra lead weights onto the go-kart I think for Saturday as strong winds and heavy rain forecast in time for the winter knockout (and having to give shedloads of shots too  :()

I think maybe you'd be better off kitting out a Defender 110 for overlanding and bring that with you too... :D :D

It'd look kinda retro towing a golf trolley instead of trailer ;)
