I loved the first couple of series of Lost then missed a few episodes of the third series so stopped watching and waited for the box set.

Now I'm miles behind, but with son number two only a matter of months away the late night feeds may involve the odd episode, so if I can remeber the cast and what happened last I might one day catch up.

The program I really enjoy is 24 though, fantastic IMO

There are few US series that I have watched with any enduring interest,

The early V were good, much better than Battle Star Galactica or Startrek, and it's spin-offs (hides from the inevitable backlash!)

I agree that CSI has about had it as has NCIS, though Numbers isn't bad.

Gave up with it at the start of the second series. After wasting what felt like half my life trying to understand Twin Peaks, i just could not go through it again with this crap

24 is definately up there as well. Who doesn't want to be Jack Bauer?!

I watched the 1st series of Heroes but then I couldn't get the hang of all the time travelling stuff, so only saw a few episodes of series 2. And now they time travelling on Lost! Damn time travel.

I don't want to be Jack Bauer, everyone he gets a bit friendly with dies. He doesn't seem to have much fun either, never see him playing golf. Poor bloke doesn't even get the chance to go to the toilet, for a whole week.

He only has to avoid the toilet for a day (24 1 hour real time episodes) and seeing as he does not eat or drink in that period then I am sure he can cope.

But doesn't each day follow on to the next, so 7 series = 1 week in his life?

Nah! There are months or years between each series. I think they're on to the sixth or seventh different US President so far due to various illnesses / impeachments etc.

Also, each episode doesn't track Jack for the entire time ( and there are gaps where the ad breaks are ) so that's presumably when Jack eats/ goes to the loo / changes his clothes.
If you watch an entire series he seems to change clothes about twenty times in a single day.
Makes you wonder how he fits it all in :D

I only ever saw the first series, wasn't that impressed, but then I watched it on dvd, and so the whole thing was flash backs or previews, with very little new in any given episode.
As I said before, why can't they edit the series before releasing the dvd boxed set, so it scans properly without the 'in last / next weeks episode'. Releasing it as individual episodes exactly as broadcast is just lazy.

I haven't seen a single episode of 24 or for that matter CSi or the others mentioned. I actually thought that Battlestar Gallactica was the original with Lorne green & Dirk Benedict etc.. so didn't watch it. Have I missed something?

The only American shows I am remotely interested in with the exception of Dexter are the comedy ones. Some are good, some are dross!

Perhaps a new thread is called for to list the good and bad US shows.
