Losing weight/fitness thread

Sorry to hear that. I would think about approaching the club and asking to put your membership on hold if you can’t play. May save you a few quid.
No need to as I’m allowed to play as walking is part of the suggested rehab. Plus I’m fully paid up till July so where we are then.

Weirdly the hip doesn’t hurt to turn or walk on. It’s actually sitting down or laying that makes it hurt where the joint closes up, Dr described it that movement and rotation could actually good for it as it opens the joint and stops any impingement. It’s when the leg is at 90° it hurts more, so can’t squat or run. I’ll know more on Friday as seeing the Orthopaedic dude in the afternoon, but the guy I saw today seems to think there will be some things I can still do that will strengthen the areas around it to aid recovery. As for the shoulder it is what is, doesn’t stop me playing and I have good and bad days, I just make sure I rest more when I get any twinges.

Even with my job I can’t completely immobilise myself or I wouldn’t be able to work at all. So I’ll see what they say Friday and hopefully prognosis will be good.

Fingers crossed for a good assessment

Well just finished the Orthopaedic Dr, must say the hospital have been great went in bang on time and straight from scan to Dr’s treatment room.

Prognosis there is no loose cartilage in the hip and it’s not a complete tear just a partial one, according to her really common in my line of work. Due to moving jobs they’ve already sent of my treatment plan to the hospital in my home area. She did say 3-6mths for full recovery, but has given me a list of acceptable exercises to strengthen the glutes and IT band area to protect the hip and aid recovery. Golf is absolutely allowed as the location of the tear means anything that open the hip like rotation movement is allowed as it doesn’t put strain on the area.

Been referred to a sports specialist physio in Farnham, as they work with military people to aid faster recovery and can do a full work up and plan around the Docs recommendation and the bonus is the one she’s suggested I can pay for additional sessions if I want them and they’re TPI qualified so could assist in my golf as well to prevent further injury 😍

A very successful day, part of me wishes I’d had this with the shoulder. 😂

Saturday got my easy 7 miles in, averaged around 9:10 minute mile which is a 4 hour marathon. Felt good although it was pretty warm.
Sunday wasn't feeling it at all, my friend messaged me saying she'd like to do my training run with me. As she's not been able to help in my training block. So we went out and did the 8.5 miles, I was so proud of her. She smashed out her longest run in ages at 9:30 minute mile pace.

The Sunday run had two and a half times the elevation gain of London, so think I'm in a pretty good place.
Will do an easy 10k I think on Wednesday, then I've got a friend to run with on Saturday for a 35 minute Parkrun. I always like to do a slow and easy Parkrun the day before a race so I know the legs are moving ok.

Golf this morning and upper body session this afternoon. Hip held up pretty well, I’ve always had a lazy tempo but exaggerated it today and helps me keep the hips out of it and the results were lovely. No tension in the hip, free flowing swings and some good distance. Got to admit though was feeling it after the round from all the walking and bending to pick the ball up that was the worst part for me.

Upper body session this afternoon, swapped some bits to make sure no exercises were done in a seated position. But overall a good session just feeling sorry for myself having these injuries which I’ve gone my whole life being injury free it’s frustrating having two pretty big ones!!

Am sorry to say but as you get older you had better get used to them👍

Lower body today. Well I say that but basically all the exercises the Doc said I can do! Was basically a session of lightweight hinge exercises, loads of Glute exercises and some IT band work. I’ve got to do them all 3 times a week till I see the specialist sports physio next Wednesday.

All I can say it my arse is literally on fire after all of that!

Absolute highlight was when one of the lads I know shouted across the gym at me “what’s with the Ass workout! Didn’t know you’d become a basic white girl, all Your missing is a pumpkin spiced latte”. I found that hilarious and my response of “At least I’m doing something about my old body, your problem is you’ll always be ugly” 😂

We got a few laughs between us and went about our business until he left and said “Bye Tracey” 😂

Headed to the London Marathon expo at the Excel this morning to pick up my number (63427) in case anyone wants to track my progress.
Got a hoodie and a new running belt, that will fit all my gels, phone and hopeful salt sticks aswell 🤞

Picked up a 3:50 and 3:55 pacing band. Will wear the 3:55 and then know roughly how much quicker I need to be at 5 mile intervals for the quicker time.
