Losing weight/fitness thread

I weighed myself this morning - 11st 11lbs

I have set myself a target of losing 4 lbs over the next three months. 11st 7lbs or 73kg.
That is the weight I was last August when I was applying for annuity quotes.
I'm in charge of all meal preparation so I have no excuse.

Hope the course dries out soon so that I can get out there more than once a week rather than the once a month which it has been for the last 3 months.
Well I never...
In merely 4 weeks I have dropped 3lbs to 11st 8lbs.

Last week, after picking up Mrs V's tablets from the pharmacy, I spotted a gap in the traffic and ran across the road rather than walk to the pedestrian crossing and wait.
That was enough of that. Not going to risk wear and tear to the knees, ankles and feet.
Two games of golf and one longish walk in Bradgate Park per week is quite enough, I think.

Problem - Easter and there's some chocky to eat. Best be careful.

Lower body yesterday with paused box squats on a soft box, supersets with DB weighted jumps left me walking like Bambi on ice this morning. But am definitely seeing the benefit with th gold from it.

Upper body today, I swear the programming is done for sadism. 1 RM testing for bench press then into 5 sets of 10 normal bench after, swear there’s more blood and swelling only chest than Katie Prices after her latest enlargement!

Had an interval session today, felt pretty good, despite a poor sleep after my night shift. Hit both mile intervals.

Over and Unders Miles with Runna ✅

2mi warm up at a conversational pace (no faster than 9:05/mi)
1mi at 8:25/mi
1mi at 7:45/mi, 90s walking rest
1.5mi cool down at a conversational pace (or slower!)

Average pace for the run was 8:56 minute miles

Core and cardio today. Did 20mins of core work then out of Zone 2 10km run, my god that was so boring I hate running at that pace but it did have it’s benefits.
My two runs are easy runs left this week, so I'll try and keep the HR below 150bpm. I can't remember the method I used for calculating HR zones. But zone 2 ends at 148bpm.

Full body session today, overall pretty good with 2 exceptions. Wanted to do Trap bar deadlifts as it’s on my programme and works and the power that be have removed all those bars from the gym, we’ve gone from have 4 to none in a week with no reason as to why and they were all brand new so it’s not through damage. They’ve also removed all of the Med balls except for 3 kg one that’s barely any use to anyone as it’s ripped!

Literally no reason for it whatsoever they removed pretty much all functional kit and left a lot of people head scratching and not being able to do most of their workouts.

Hows the shoulder these days?

Hows the shoulder these days?
Good and bad days. It’s still far from fixed, got a referral to specialist but that’s not till the end of June, waiting on results of a scan as well which I should be getting tomorrow morning at my next physio and Dr appointments as they’re still not ruling out possible nerve damage. It’s just taking so bloody long!

On the plus side, the training I’m doing now being more functional and mobility based is helping to protect it. The pain never truly goes away but it’s certainly more manageable at the moment with the odd flare up and when I get that I go into full rest mode.

I’ve had an absolute mare today! This morning was physio and Dr for my shoulder referral, so to be safe I Went for a run first thing this morning, so that I wasn’t aggravating the shoulder before my appointment. Nothing strenuous nice steady 8km at Zone 2, running up one of the lanes on the way back my right foot slipped on a muddy bit on road and felt a pop in my right side. Thought nothing of it kept running to the end and felt a little tight and had a stretch, just a pulled muscle.

Went into physio and in her words “you’re walking funny”. Explained my morning and she wanted to take a look! As she did there was a big pop as she internally rotated my leg. She sent me straight to hospital, where I’ve been sat for hours doom scrolling this place. Turns out I’ve got a labral tear in my right hip as a result of my little slip 😒, Dr has said anything from 3-9 mths for full recovery and referred me to a hip specialist to get a full rehab program and to see if there’s any need for a Hip Arthroscopy to remove any cartilage or reattach the labrum!

In other news I got my shoulder referral from the Dr and Physio on the 17th June and they think I have Thoracic Outlet Syndrome.

It’s been a fun day 😂

Best day of the year in my honest opinion :P

Got my Durolane injection in my knee today, and the plan is to be able to run again at some point. Physio and gym sessions started a few weeks ago

I didn't do Lincoln 10k, but my bro came over to do it. Not a bad time, 42:58, although he was a bit disappointed. However, he did do Lincoln parkrun the day before, coming 5th. Not the best preparation, running a 5k flat out. Watching the race, I definitely wish I was participating

Sorry to hear that. I would think about approaching the club and asking to put your membership on hold if you can’t play. May save you a few quid.
