Losing weight/fitness thread

So we can track people's weight, should they put it in their signature, along with their handicap? We can also see if weight and golfing ability are linked 🤔
Driving distance as well maybe 🤣
We need to add age to both those categories so we can point whether they’re, average, above or below average or just the same as all golfer and men in general over exaggerating to protect their ego 🤣

Glad you didn’t ask for height as I would need to go in a separate category for dwarves 🤣

Jeff Galloway (invented the running method “jeffing”) died last night aged 80 after a stroke.

It was his training programme I followed to break 2 hours for the 1/2 Marathon in Jan.

They reckon he inspired millions around the world.

1lb off this week, down to my lowest since last July, haven't been lower than this in probably 30 years, since I was at school.

But, it's my birthday on Sunday and I've got some good meals booked in, because life's boring otherwise. As Graham Taylor said, now this is a test.
Test failed, 1lb on. With all things considered (huge curry, pizza and half a pistachio Easter Egg from M&S) I'll take it.

Physio and specialist absolute agony, shoves their fingers down inside my collarbone "Does this hurt".. Did my best not to jump off the table and let him feel how much it hurt! But prognosis of potential nerve entrapment awaiting scan results means I can train and play golf.

Gym last night was legs and plyo work, my trainer planning in a superset of Weighted Bulgarian split squats immediately followed by a plyo metric of the same exercises was disgusting and feeling it today.. This morning was shoulder mobility, light weight upper body stuff and finished off with 500m sprints on the rower. Wish I'd had brekkie before hand all I could hear over my headphones was my stomach 😂

8 mile this afternoon, lovely day, first time with just one layer up top on this year.😱

Had a 5 mile run/walk/run session so just kept going to the 8 mile point.
Session went well just over 9 min pace for the run/walk/run element and around 8:30 for the other 3 mile.

I also thought it would be a good idea to try Cream eggs instead of haribo’s😂😂 took them at the intervals I’d normally have the haribo’s, first one was pretty gooey if I’m honest, needed a drink with it, 😂 obviously after taste was good, 2nd one was consumed far more easily as I took a drink first.

Don’t know if it was any better or worse thsn the haribo’s, certainly get a sugar rush from them, but felt more like a treat than a supplement to help.

Started to get back into running again. Did a couple of parkruns in January, as fast as I could, to see where my start point is. Around 27:30 both times, and they killed me

Done about 4-5 runs a week for last 4 weeks. Some intervals, some aerobic slow runs, one hill climb session.

No golf today, so decided to do a slow run, 3k to parkrun, continue to run parkrun in comfortable Zone 2/3 range and run home again. Was around a full minute quicker with the official parkrun time, 26:36, so had it been a flat out run, it is amazing to think what progress can be made. And all despite having 2 dodgy knees.

Bring on the Lincoln 10K in April

So went to a quickish Parkrun this morning.
Aim was to see where my speed was at. AIM was sub 25 minutes.

First mile behind the 24 minute pacer, second mile went past the pacer. About half a mile left saw the pacer catching me up. Worked pretty hard til the end 23.21.
Still a little under the weather with a cold so really happy. Quickest 5k since 2023 when I was probably a stone lighter 🎉

Had my long run today, route was to pick up my car from last nights running club evening if beer and burgers.
15mi Race Practice Long Run with Runna ✅

3.5mi at a conversational pace
3.5mi at 9:00/mi
7mi at 8:35/mi (your target Marathon pace)
1mi at a conversational pace

First 7 miles were pretty comfortable, but the next 7 were just about the worst planned route I could do. Far too many hills so ended up walking a bit during those MP miles. I then battled to 14 miles and binned off the cooldown.
Averaged 9;14 a mile, but first real bad run of the training block. I’m going to be cutting booze right back apart from one day until after London.

Hope it's OK to post. A friend is doing a runners' survey (short ;) if anyone can have a go, it'd be much appreciated.
