Losing weight/fitness thread

5K - Training plan this morning, 5 minute warm up, 1 mile run walk run, 5 minute cool down.😱

Did that then continued to 5 mile.

Such a weird session, really didn’t fancy going out in the cold for less than 18 minutes.
Today’s session was a repeat of the above from sunday, so decided to do same 5 mile.

The session itself, run/walk 1 mile:

Sunday - ran 4 minutes, walked 30 secs - time for mile was 8:17

Today - ran 3 minutes, walked 30 secs - time for was 8:07.

Next time I’ll try run 2 minutes, walk 30 secs and see the difference, if any.

Overall today was 2mins 40 faster than sunday, which is pleasing as I didn’t mentally race myself.

Weight holding steady 2lb off in just under 2 weeks.

That is 2550 press ups done with 3 days to spare, enjoyable enough challenge.
Debating an easy run tonight, slow pace just to test the hamstring / groin…..
That’s 11 days since a run or cycle(peloton).
Be careful mate, not worth making it worse or setting yourself back.

Whats this press up challenge?

I've been doing at least 50 a day since some time in late November. Its just routine now. I break them up over the evening and quite often do 10 as soon as I get up.

I have seen a lot of ads recently for fitness where they do your blood works . I hadn't heard of this before , anyone know much about it / had it done ?

You noticed any visible results?

I started doing 100 a day a few years back and kept it up for a month or so before dying off. Would like to start again, but the first few weeks are hard as I'm doing 10 (bad ones) at a time and having to spread them out, so finding quiet places in the office to try and get some done during the day haha.

Just something I did myself Gary, amazing how quickly you adapt and can get them in quickly.

I can see some difference yeah. I've done over 100 at times but that seemed a bit of a stretch for me at the time.
Im doing a daily exercise set by someone's in works trainer too. Gets the full body worked out over the week.
I call this type of work bite size exercise. Much more sustainable than the thought of 3Ɨ1hr a week at the gym.

I had it done a few years back, Fitness Genes i think the company was. Looked at the results and recommendations and then never looked at it again. Wasn't worth it for me.

Well that’s work done before travelling down south tomorrow for my best mate’s wedding this weekend. Aye fairly well today but the two bags of mini eggs went down a treat.

Bit of a strange one today, for one reason or another I was meant to play golf, but, due to a change of appointment that arrived thursday I had to withdraw, then that changed yesterdayšŸ™„ and when logging back on to rebook the golf, the slot was filled and no gaps left in the comp.

Didn’t fancy playing on my own after 12pm so decided to go for a run.

As it was an ā€œextraā€ run I thought I’d find a previous 5 miler I’d done, download the course to my watch and ā€œraceā€ it.

Here’s were it gets weird, did the run, ran well, but when the course/race ended my watch showed 4.65 mile.

Strava/Garmin tells me this is the 5th time I’ve done this course and the previous 4 all show as 5 mile.

I fully understand GPS on civilian watches isn’t 100% accurate, but it’s the first time I’ve experienced such a big discrepancy.

On a positive note today showed a PB on the route.šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

I often run exactly the same route out 4k and back 4k, the watch picks up the 4k half point often over by quite a bit. It seems to be wrong more often if I run faster.

That also correlates to my (limited) experience of running events, where the watch is always under. Very annoying when a 10k PB doesn’t get logged because the watch thinks it was 9,930m šŸ˜‚

Attempted to go to the gym for an upper body workout after a week being out in the field active. Walked in and then walked straight back out, every single bit of kit was in use with others waiting to use it. Going out for a run wasn’t allowed as any temperature below -13° means outdoor running is banned. So just ended up
Doing some stretching in my room, guess I’ll try again tomorrow šŸ˜’

Bit of a ā€œpull up a sandbagā€ moment, but one of my many military skillsšŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚ is that I was a GPS Instructor and very familiar with discrepancies with civilian GPS devices ref accuracy and interference etc leading to different measurements showing up, but I’ve never experienced such a massive distance on such a device.

Upto the 90’s and beyond in certain circumstances civilian GPS could be up to 100 metres out or blocked all together, nowadays they are accurate to 3-4 metres.

First proper session back in the gym since before that dreaded but.

Simple little upper body combined Push/Pull session. Finished with a little metabolic circuit but got to say I am still feeling the effects of the illness in my lungs. Just doing some simple DB snatches had me absolutely blowing and wheezing. Still moving forward it’ll ll come back.
