Losing weight/fitness thread

Been seeing a lot about Ashwaganda recently. My sleeps pretty rubbish too. Might try these. Saw them on a promotion stand in Aldi at the weekend.

Aim this year is to loss the weight gained recently and reduce my blood pressure. Still hampered bya shoulder/bicep issue and back is still annoying but going to really make an effort to get back on track.
I’ve no idea what Aldi ones will be like but I’ve used Holland & Barrett they weren’t to bad but the Nutrition Geeks ones have been really good and don’t repeat on you. Definitely helped my sleep routine along with the magnesium as intake both about an hour before bed.

I checked the dosage and I think they matched my protein

So yesterday left the van at my accommodation and walked everywhere. So walked to work, work to gym and gym to accommodation. Ended up with 23000 steps for the day.

At the gym did a 30 minute walk on the treadmill before a yoga class. After the yoga class was going to run if I couldn't get into the Hyrox class.
Got a space and it wasn't the easiest way for my first Hyrox class of the year 🥵

Got some Mango and watermelon to eat on the way back after the gym. Wanted chocolate but not enough calories left and fruit was in calories and probably the right choice 😆

Thought I’d try and be Billy big balls and swim in the fast lane today. Dead now but definitely helped push me. Bottom is tues session and top is today.

Don’t think I’ll be able to lift my arms tomorrow 😅

EDIT: Also, anyone who's looking for low cal easy and inexpensive lunch options, this rice is delicious;

it's £2.50 and easily does 2 portions if not 3 depending on your hunger. I added some peas (because I bloody love them) and some cooked chicken breast for proteinand it's absolutely delicious and works out around somewhere around 700 cals for a really filling (and nutritious) lunch.

HIIT and Hills on the Peloton, 14.8 miles in 45 minutes, absolutely brutal session, thighs on fire.
Took dog for a walk and decided against a run again, we had -5 last night and the pavements and roads just aren’t safe yet.

Leg day today and I’m feeling it. Should’ve been a rest day but work schedule is up in the air so bought forward. Squats were pretty strong but by the time I got to Split squats and box jumps I was wobbly 😂

New exercise appeared in the programme today, rotational Kettlebell swings got admit my core was on fire. Been a physical day at work and combined with the gym I Need a good feed and stretch now.

Have you got a PT that designs your programmes?

Kind of, my programmes are designed for me by a friend who is a Staff Sergeant in the RAPTC (Royal Army Physical Training Corps). I’ve known him since way back when we were in RE together. Every 8-12weeks we get together and he designs me a programme based on what my goals are or what upcoming work dictates for me. So my training at moment is all geared to my work in Norway with some Golf related exercises thrown in to help develop speed, power and mobility.

Hard work ain’t it

Sitting here trying not to smash my face into a box of maltesers

Might just go on the jabs 😂
I’ve found it pretty easy last few days (early days yet 😅) but had a massive cookie in the office today as one of the lads bought one.

Felt like when they get a biscuit on I’m a Celeb after being in there for a week 😂

Still, should be ok to factor into the allowance for the day

Just over 11 mile this morning on what was the last “proper” session before the 1/2 Marathon a week on sunday, next week the programme is simply 3 light jogs.

Session was warm up, cadence drill, glider drill then 14 x 1/2 mile speed repeats with 3 minute walk between reps finished off with cool down.

Whole session took 1hr 55 minutes.

Thinking about it, out of that time I walked for 42 minutes, the warm up plus drills and cool down was 16 minutes and totalled a distance of just over 4 miles, next week my target is sub 2hr, surely with that much walking/jogging and only needing to run another 2 miles, sub 2 hours is really achievable, or am I miscalculating something?😵‍💫

I would say if you walked for 42 minutes of 1hr 55 and you travelled 11 miles - then sub 2 hours is massively achievable.

you'll have an extra pep in your step come race day too - just don't go off too quick and trust your pacing, you'll be fine :)

You’ll definitely do sub 2, I’d think an hour 40 could be achievable 😀😀 looking at your training times 👍🏻

7.1 miles in 1 hour 8 minutes, 9.41 mins per mile.
Lucky it was even that fast, under ground conditions were terrible, still so icy here.
Was proper dodgy on my dog walk this morning.

I’m off to the new gym once the kids are in bed. Will do an easy treadmill run and some easy strength stuff to ease myself back into it!

Went to a lapped event this morning, 6 laps is a marathon. Wanted to run a marathon too see where my fitness level is pre London marathon training block.

Felt good til, around 10.5 miles, smallish gap, on the path. I was getting to it and looked like a couple of blokes where going to try and get through so pulled closer to the gate. Hit the concrete post and down I went. Left knee grazed up. Continued but by 12 miles left hip and glute were hurting. So jeffed the last mile or so and settled for a half marathon.

2:10 which includes stopping at the aid station for a drink and nibbles.
