Losing weight/fitness thread

Just managed to dead hang for 30 seconds before my fingers screamed at me, was kinda proud of myself 🤣
I’ve got some of those resistance band things which YT guys suggest beginners use at the start 👍
One thing for dead hangs is try and engage the Scapula muscles, takes a little strain off the hands (not much but some) also helps develop for when you move into pull ups as that’s the first muscle to start the pull. Be surprised makes a big difference to hang time, pull up strength/technique and shoulder strength.

Googles “scapula muscles” 🤣

Hotspot long run today, 11 miles with 2 x 0.5 mile efforts. Ran with a friend til the last 3.5 miles. Made sure the efforts where In well lit areas as my friend can’t keep up with me on the efforts. Didn’t want her in areas where it could be a little dodgy.
So meant the efforts where mostly downhill so quicker then the target 8:25 minute miles.

11mi Hotspot Long Run with Runna ✅

4mi at a conversational pace
0.5mi at 8:25/mi
2.5mi at a conversational pace
0.5mi at 8:25/mi
3.5mi at a conversational pace

Averaged 10:08 minute miles, last easy section was hard.

Just in from a 7 miler, 9 minutes per mile, groin still not right but I’ll fight through it!!
Maybe it's because I'm verging on the elderly, but I'm never exercising through an injury, given a choice.
Once we reach a certain age, being able to keep doing stuff is really important, and careful maintenance is a lot more important than peak performance 😀.

I’m with you on this. I’ve learned the hard way over the years pushing through injury can lead to a bad place. Now if I’m carrying a niggle I’ll train around it and do other exercises to keep myself moving without aggravating the injury.
