Losing weight/fitness thread

1 hour 52 minutes and 47 seconds. I started with the 2 hour pacer, then saw my friend so ran with her for a bit.
Although I'm aiming for as close to 2 hours in April in Lithuania, so fingers crossed. Got about 9 weeks to get there.
The only person I usually see is God.

Wtf! I'm never posting my run times in here again, calm down Paula Radcliffe 🤣

I did once start on the elite women's start at London. Back in the day when good club runners started with the pros. Warmed up next to Joyce Chepchumba and then watched them disappear as the race started. The overhead helicopters faded into the distance...

Plus - it's very like golf. Decent single figures but so far off a pro's level as to be not even close. My marathon splits were around 7.30 minute miling - Paula's around 5.10. I literally might have managed 1 mile at her pace and then collapsed...

Good point, the elites in any sport make it look so easy that you think you'd be ok. 5.10 for 26 miles is otherworldly. I could do a 7 min mile if that was all I was doing, but it'd be a sprint, and she's knocking 2 minutes off that. Just incredible.

Nurse appointment today for my annual health check

Very pleased with my weight

Blood pressure is normal

Blood sugars once again surprisingly low. They are very pleased. (Whatever the level is 41 is the last of "acceptable" before pre diabetes) My level is 31

Boom

Meal prepped and loving the gym again. Been making a beauty chicken pasta salad. Easy to make and great for lunch. Just need to make time to get back to spin class, just wish it was earlier on an evening at 5:30/6ish rather than 6:45-7:30. Always feels too late to eat after.

Determined not to snack as much today so just been eating protein where possible, little and often

0700 scrambled eggs on toast

1100 huel replacement

1300 left over shish and cherry tomatoes

1400 decided no I won't have crisps I'll just have boiled egg and soilders

We have chicken salad for tea around 1900 tonight

All that added into my app says I'm doing very well on the protein count

Long work day coming up so I've thrown in loads of little meals to just if I am eating more calories it's not junk it's oats, eggs etc

I've been trying to be mindful about snacking. I'm a grazer and don't have big meals and often my only actual meal will be at 7pm. So no biscuits/chocolate and swapping for fruit, nuts, yoghurt, eggs, protein bar (helps the sweet tooth). I do feel better for it and it's something at the CrossFit gym they really focus on (nutrition and sleep quality).

Sleep quality and duration is something I need to improve on. I don’t sit down on an evening to relax until 8ish. I feel robbed if I therefore go to bed before 11pm. Then I faff on scrolling and usually fall asleep around midnight. Alarm goes off at 6. Very rare for me to zonk out for the full night. If I wake up I struggle to get back to sleep.

I really miss sleep! Eldest twin is super unsettled ATM (all year so far) gets us up at 10 and kicks me out of bed so I dive in spare room.. used to be 4am but then eldest been very upset this week so got me up at 2 for a chat then wouldn't let me leave for work at 5 because she was upset

On fumes today

Ah the old bed merry-go-round… lasted from age 2-9ish in our house. Could tell when coming down with something or when something was on her mind as I’d be relegated to the spare bed in the early hours. Or wake up with a cricked neck after falling asleep cuddling her back to sleep.

Is four different exercises the right amount? I never know how many to do so probably do too many.

Same. Hardly ever in bed before 11:30. Alarm at 6:20 and I'll wake once during the night, more at the moment because of my back/hip. I'd love an extra hour but very rarely sleep anymore than 5/6 solid hours, even on a weekend. Even training and tiring myself out I don't seem to be able to sleep longer

I mix it up, if I’m feeling good I’ll crack on pushing it.
Always seem to struggle my last couple of shifts at work, hence only the 4 exercises and only 3 sets of each, but I’m up at half 4 and finish at half 5 at night, so a long day!!

Yesterday planned for a 10 miler at easy pace. Turned into 7 miles at almost my target half pace averaged 9:22 minute miles.
Today easy 5 miles at around 10 minute pace, with people from work. Wish I’d run this pace yesterday, but really struggle with easy runs.

Yeah stepping up the exercise these last 6 months have had zero impact on my sleep too.

Weighed myself and have actually lost 4 pounds since Christmas. Not bad for basically zero exercise other than golf*. Just trying to make smaller portions for dinners and not eating crisps with my lunch is pretty much all I've changed diet wise. Only just finished the Christmas chocs as well as I've rationed them pretty well.

*On that note, how many calories do you think you burn hitting 50 balls at the driving range?

A tip is to never eat the calories you burn, any calories you burn help with your calorie deficit.
