Looking for recommendations for a full bag of clubs to replace existing

Hi everyone

I have had my full bag for some time now and been looking at getting some new clubs, I have had a fitting so know what I need, in relation to shafts and lie etc. I did this with Callaway who then naturally recommended a whole new bag of brand new Callaway clubs, but in all honesty I am not playing at a great level and to spend £1000+ on a new set of clubs I don't feel is warranted.

So I thought about the 2nd hand market (usual market places, golfbidder, facebook, ebay amazon, etc)

My current set up is all Nike, bar a new Hybrid which I will keep, along with my Nike putter which I am happy with, the rest I am open to changing:
Driver: VR Pro (Not very forgiving for a high HC)
3 Wood VR Pro (again not very forgiving for a high handicapper)
Irons: Nike Ignite
Wedge: 48, 52, 58 Nike V-REV Black

The Callaway guy recommended for me:
Driver: Callaway Big Bertha Fusion
Irons: Callaway Steelhead XR Irons
Wedges: Callaway MD 3

Like I said, to buy all these brand new would cost around £1300, which I don't really want to do, and seen loads of videos on Youtube of guys buying used clubs for half that price, but maybe a year or two old, or even more.

Any recommendations for similar quality of clubs for a high handicapper, a friend who does play of a slightly higher level to me said Ping are good for being forgiving.

I do feel my clubs, woods and irons especially need a change, maybe my wedges are fine, I do like them

My son has Callaway X2 hot irons. I have used them, I'm off 22, and they are ridiculously easy to hit. I've bought a hybrid in the same range and the ball flies off the face. Why not go for this range using the same Callaway specs you have been given?

I've just bought a Nike Covert driver and find that very easy to use, bold words I know. If you want to stay in the Nike fold then you can go down the covert route for irons, driver and hybrids.

Ping are great clubs, very easy to hit. I had a set of G25 irons which were great and stupidly changed, now going for a set of the new Ping G's. Can get a set of G25's for about £180 and there really isn't much difference between them and the even older models.

I also have a Ping G driver and before that I had the Ping G30 which you can pick up for about £130 second hand now. And to be honest, there isn't much difference between that and the G20/G25 which are even cheaper.

Agree with LT regarding the Callaway X2 hots, my friend has a set and they are also easy to hit and dont get much drop off from miss hits.

To be honest, a lot of the irons in the game improvement category are really similar performance wise and I struggle to find any difference between them. I don't think you would go wrong with a set of the major brands game improvement irons second hand which you can pick up on ebay/gumtree or even in the second hand section of AG and proshops. May be worth taking a trip down to AG and seeing if they have any, then you can give them a hit. Also remember the double trade in at AG is still on and you may get a good deal on your irons for a new set. The Ping G irons i bought only cost £470 brand new, and they had the Taylormade RSi1's for £399 but limited shaft options available.

May also be worth looking into Benross as well, another friend of mine has picked up a set in AG for £100 and to him they performed exactly the same as the more expensive brands.

Some of the older Ping or Callaways can be picked up very cheaply if you shop around and they will still do a decent job
