Longest drive ?

Longest ever was 16th at Fairmont off white tees, drove the green @ 401yds slightly downhill and downwind. Average out at about 270 - 300.

Oh and I have a massive todger as well!

Hit a 300 yard one today (a little downwind, and I GPS measured it ;) ), normally in the 260-270 range though but do get them out on occasion ... and not normally beyond the others that i usually play with.

im usually hitting it about 230-240, a good hit goes 250ish. again, not bothered about hitting it far, working on my accuracy over distance. i have seen some LONG drives, 320-340, the 18th at Bath GC, down hill and always strong wind as its quite high up. and that was by my mate Reggie. still havent stopped hearing about it and everytime he plays the hole, he now puts it in the trees everytime as he just trys to hit it harder!

I have hit it over 300, measured by gps, a few times. Mainly down wind, down hill, but I have done it. I am not a Big hitter, and i m getting shorter by the day. Got one 298 on the flat, still day last feb. I guess every one has the odd biggy in there somewhere. One of those when you hit it with a bit of timing, and some grunt. Mostly I am short though. Don't really care, as long as I'm not in th trees on the left. Which I am more often than not.

Have been 5 yards shy of a Par 4 green, 310 yards ish down a pretty big hill and have hit 3 or 4 drives 270 with wind assistance.

Generally struggle with the driver though. If someone offered me 220-240 down the middle on a regular basis I'd snap their hand off.

I always thought I could hit a long ball, but not as long as I thought I could.

Always amuses me when you go to the range and see teens saying "I can hit it to that 300 marker in the distance" and the tops on about 100 yards.

As long as im on the short stuff, 220-240 is good for me.

Normally I'm hitting it between 230 - 250 yards on a flat fairway in summer. That's with my 3 wood as I rarely use the driver.

there's almost no point starting a thread like this because all you get is the usual crowd saying "i don't believe you"......

why you would make it up i don't know, you're not even blowing you're own horn ffs!!!

that is pretty impressive and if he can keep the ball straight(ish) most of the time then he should be a good player.in saying that i do know someone who averages 320+ and plays off 22....i can't fathom how that is but there you go.

i personally average 280 with no roll at all,i measured out a 284 carry on thursday on a very cold day,the landing area was above teeing ground aswell, only slightly though.my longest this year was 345 yrds at killin,330yrds at callander and a few biggies at crieff.i averages 280+ at crieff with a duck hook and some 3 woods from some tee's.

but today i played the worst golf i have done in a while and lost 2 balls at the 9th with poor drives, sometimes it doesn't pay to hit it far.

I once played at the Teign Valley Golf Club in Devon. On the 17th Tee, a par 5 hole, there is a notice stating that a hole in one was made from this tee, the hole is 496-yards.

Even with my awful looking swing I can drive our 18th green in the summer which is just over 300 yards and even today I was only about 25 yards short. Longest ever drive was about 370 on a warm day with a stiff downwind breeze. Can't give an exact yardage but it's a straight 523 yard par 5 and I was playing my second shot from the 150 marker. I know people will seriously doubt these yardages but why would anyone lie about it on a forum? Besides I'd happily give up yardage to be more accurate and more consistent. Being long is actually a bad thing when you spray it all over off the tee.

I play regularly with a guy called Greg Lindley. He is one of the best strikers of a golf ball I know. Playing the Nevill a couple of months ago he absolutely caned one up a par 5. He was miles past the rest of us. We were all laughing after he hit it, it was stupidly long. Measured on GPS.............. 298 yards.
Played with JustOne at Dale Hill. One long par 4 he mashed it. He couldn't have hit it any sweeter. Measured on GPS.....301 yards.
You can normally tell a 300 yarder when it's hit. It will usually be followed by giggles.

The forum seems to have a new breed of big hitters looking at the number of posts the guys averaging 300+ yds have made. I'm not saying it can't be done cause it can, but most people who think they hit it that far don't.

What's interesting about this this is the amount of single figure golfers who have replied 280/300 max, yet the am mount of mid to high teen golfers claiming 325-350. I'm not a short hitter, but I'm defo not long, anywhere around 250/260 on the short stuff is fine thank you very much. Finding fairways is helping the hc drop lovely.

As one off the replies says i am not blowing my own trumpet i wish i could hit that far as it is impressive , but watching this guy in action i can belive he can hit long distances every time , but maybe not hitting constant greens

When I was younger I was one of the longest and best ball strikers in the club (so the pro and many members said) however, even I used to say what's the point as I walked off with a par or worse. I even moved clubs as my 3-6 iron were never needed. Key now is from 80yds and in.......plus a good drive now is 260, I'll leave the big guns to the young guns now.

I have seen people on this forum hit the ball pretty far. Swinger, JustOne, Jammydodger and Pieman for example. I can sometimes hit it a long way too. All of us could go well over 300 yards with good drives. That said, average is probably about 250 ish but I only speak for myself there.

I remember a forum meet at East Brighton earlier in the year when I hit a drive about 345 on the 18th. It was the best drive of the day until 30 seconds later, James outdrove me!

Longest drives I have ever hit were both at Devils Dyke GC in Hove. The first was on a warm day with a tail wind and I drove the 9th green with a big draw. First bounce probably went 45 yards! That is a pretty straight 404 yard par 4. Longest though was on a frosty day with hard ground on the par 5 second which is slightly downhill. I drove through the temporary green! Not sure how far exactly but certainly over 460 yards. Extreme conditions then though.

Bottom line is that there are golfers who can hit the ball regularly over 300 yards but I would say that this is at the top end of their range and the average is significantly less.

Just my opinion... I certainly don't feel like I am a person who thinks he hits it further than I actually do. I am more interested in how many rather than how far anyway.

Cheers,

Snelly.
